Just a quick question about cutting handlebars. I have some Axiom DH aluminum bars which are now on my new street bike and i would like to cut them down about an inch on both sides. Ive cut a few seatposts before, but never a bar. I know how to do it, but i was wondering if there are any things that i should pay special attention to or take special care of?

its pretty much the same.

just make sure the bar will be centered after its cut. i seen someone cut their bar that was prolly a little off to begin with and they kept hacking pieces off to get it even. they ended up throwing the bar away.

1. measure your bar
2. move your grips in to where they feel comfortable if you have odi's
3. mark how much you want to cut off
4. make sure both sides are even.

so if you want to cut off 1in. cut 1/2in on each side.

use a peice of Electrical tape wrapped around the edge u want to cut along...

it gives u something to line up against as u cut...you'll end up with a nice strait cut everytime...

esp. if ur using simple hand tool like a hacksaw...:thepimp:

Use a pipe cutter if your bar isn't too thick. That's what I do, works great every time.

The bar is aluminum, and thin walled. You'll go through it with a hacksaw in 20 seconds (liek with a seat post). Just get the length right, and everything else will be the same as a seat post.

I would measure from Bar center to make sure you are taking the same amount off each side.If you got lock ons you can test ride different bar widths before you have to cut .I like to use a tubing cutter
