I ride Intense Lockons (ODI).... they ROCK! No slipping whatsover. Came from stock specialized slip grips which I could rotate at will.

whatever lock-on you can get on sale is the shit
The only thing I ever found to keep grips from rotating was 2 sided tape but it was really hard to get the grip on over the tape without scrunching the tape up

North Shore Sports Swap has some killer deals on lock on's. Got a set of no names - but hella sticky, durable, just the right thickness grips - for under $10. Best part, one 6 MM allen bolt holds these puppies in place. :)

I've hated every lock on I've had.
The only reason I run em is because they don't slip, but they wear way too fast, and they're too sticky. All the grip on it dies so fast.
Until....I tried HUCK's grips. I believe it was the Rouge BMX version...longer than the normal Rouge, tread pattern and thickness are perfect, you can ride em without gloves, and they don't wear fast. Plenty sticky too.
BTW, I don't suggest the Ruffian at all. They wear waaay too fast, and they're so sticky. They died out on me after a couple months use- less thna half a season- and theres' no way you can use em without gloves.
Don't take my word for it...go try your buddy's grips. Grips are one of those things that everyone likes differently.
Oury ODI's.....simply the best combo of lockon grip design with the Oury comfy inserts...
its the only grip i buy/use now....:thepimp:

Am I the only one who doesn't use lockons? Grips for me last abotu a year, and $10 for new grips a year when my grips start spinning isn't a big deal.
I use Serfas dual compound with the flange and the diagonal square cut pattern and I love em.

I have both the ODI Intense and the Lizard Skins Moab. They are both great grips, and you cant go wrong with either, but i would reccomend getting the Moab's if you can.

if you dont run lock-ons just put a squirt of hairspray underneath each grip and you are good to go.

ODI Rogues for sure. They're a little larger than the others to absorb more shock. $28 incuding the clamps in a "Bonus Pack" at MEC.

I actually didnt like my oury lock-ons after i rode them for a while, they actually felt really weird on a dh bike (this comes from a guy who cant wear gloves anymore because all are too small..).
I really like the odi Ruffians, the intense are nice too, but only last a couple of good rides it seems.

Renthal. Three durometers to choose from, three swanky colours, thin, mad grippy.
lockons? blech, they end up with so much play besides.
I'm seriously considering developing a cork grip with some good end caps.

Never had play in my lock on's, they are the best, riding the OURY variety right now and love it...feels like home.

I like Ruffian lockons when I decide to ride with gloves, but when I choose to roll gloveless (which I've been doing lots of lately) I like the Rogue pattern. Try to get the BMX version with the flange. Primo also makes some of their grips as lock-ons but I haven't tried those yet.

I like the ODI Rouges. They have a nice diameter, and last a really long time. I liked the Ruffians, but a little small, and wear out pretty quick too.

I found this worked great for awhile ,the grip slipped on easy and when the hairspray dried out the grip was stuck to the bars.
then we went to the shore and it rained ,the grip slipped all over just like when I was putting them on.When the bike/grip dries off they are stuck , when the bike gets wet they slide around ... my old marin bearcountry has been like that for 15 years
it might work in the desert if you don't have sweaty hands

if you got play in the grip you have to turn one of the lock rings either forward or backward to take out the play... you don't just use then lock ring to position the grip side to side, you gotta turn them forward/backward as well
The big thing I like about lock-ons is the ability to easily get them on and off to work on the bike

rouge or oury lock ons if you have huge hands but i have medium sized hands and love inteses and ruffians. on my bike i run the long ones with flanges for bmx, lets you move around more and have more area to catch for tricks and stuff.
they do where kinda fast but whats 8 bucks every 6 months when you have a bike worth thousands:???: I only run lock ons, normal grips are just to much trouble.

First time I tried hair spray it didn't work well at all. I used too much, and some cheap kind. Cleaned everything, tried a different kind in a much smaller quantity, and the grips nevery moved. This was a quite a few years ago. Nowdays I just spit on the handlebar and force the grip on - works perfectly.

Lock-ons must be one of the best cheapo upgrades ever. Easy to install, easy to remove, and they never rotate. Wear is the same as any grip. I don't know how I ever got by with those old twisty turds that would slowly work their way off the end of the bar
Personally, I like the Intense ones, with the bulged middle section. But thats all personal.
MEC is a good place to get them, the price is almost wholesale, definitely beats the LBS

You have to stand back when Switch is installing his grips.;)
I use isopropyl alcohol to install grips. Grips go on easily and the alcohol evaporates quickly.
IMO, nothing beats Oury grips.

I hate Oury grips for the sole reason that they're so fat. I hate that feeling. I always look for a slim grip thats semi firm and grippy but not sticky.

I think the alcohol in hairspray is what helps the grip go on and once it evaporates you are good to go... until it rains and all the other shit in hairspray makes the gripe slide around
Agree that its much better to use straight alcohol

i've been riding oury's for about 4 years now. Couldn't change if someone gave me freebies.
Um, about this whole lock-on business, have none of you ever heard of mechanic's wire? I use a wrap and a couple of twists at each end, file the rough parts (but only if i'm in the mood, sometimes I just bend 'em more) and the grips NEVER move. As cheap as lock-ons appear to be, it can't be cheaper than free. Not nearly the same cool-facter I guess...
