Have any of you used the Specialized Roller Pro RS with the soft compound? How are they compared to the Kenda Nevegals when doing Shore riding in the wet and mud?
Also what tricks do you guys have to prevent pinch flats? I've heard about using baby powder, anything else?

I also use baby powder, but I am dubious about the long term benefits, especially in wet weather. It doesn't take long for moisture to get under the tire to negate the benefits of baby powder.
The only real trick to preventing pinch flats is to run sufficient pressure, use a tire with a strong sidewall and/or run a thicker tube.

i take a popped DH tube and cut it down the middle of the inside. also cut off the valve. tuck that inside your tire. then just use a regular tube and put it on normally. ive found you can run any kind of pressure with this method. ive been running the same XC tubes since Feb 2003. (knock on wood)
i hear the 04 Spec. tires are worlds better then in previous years, but they still have weak sidewalls..
i'd say go for the DH casing Kenda...safer bet....
the traction of the new Spec. tires is quite good...but is it the same as the new Kenda's ???? i dont know for a fact...

jsut run dh tires and tubes, never a prob with flats then unless you actually pick up something.

I just upgraded from 04 pro rollers to Kenda bluegroove/nevegal combo. World of difference in the slick/wet, although I haven't tested them on the shore yet... just one day @ whistler on them so far. The specialized tires were designed for dry conditions (moab style). I'd rather have the stick-e Kenda's this time of year for sure.

specialized roller tires work pretty good down here in the dry stuff, sort of feel like maxxis high rollers with harder side knobs..

The new Roller Pro RS is available in a wet/mud tread design with a low Duro compound and reinforced sidewall.

The only reason why I'm even considering this tire is because I find the Nevegals wear out way too fast for my liking, but only if the Roller Pro gives descent traction too.
