dave is there anything else we can/should bring? i dont have any of those kicking around and really cant afford to go buy one just for the trail day.

09-14-2004, 09:40 AM
Thats actually a good question - if you dont have any of that James I'd recommend bringing some cotton gloves as we'll need people to gather fallen logs for siding of berms or fill. When in doubt, just come prepared to work :)

Even though there's a BBQ, please dont forget to bring your own water as I'm not sure if its taken care of and dehydration is not so good.

From what we've talked about, for example, it'd be the equivalent of road check basically where there's one executive at a trail head with a membership list. Now I'm not sure if we'll have the authority to remove non members from riding, but its in the event that non member does sustain an injury, the Shed Bike Club and Delta would be free from liability (hopefully) as signage will also be posted that these 'man made trails' are for SBC members or affil's only.

As for membership itself, I do believe its still by donation so if you show up, sign up. It should be that easy.

Hmmmm... That's gonna be kind of ridiculous to inforce those rules on visitors to the shed who only go their a couple times a year or something...

Maybe an online thing on the shed website (when it's up)???

If you want to ride the stunts in the shed you have to read a disclaimer thing, then accept the disclaimer, then enter your full name, adress, and telephone number....

It would be easy enough?

No joke:( The thing about our agreement is that we have to do something like this. As for enforcing it, there is not always gonna be someone in there with a list, it'll probably be more like a card you keep on you. What we don't want is to have to confront people about it in a way that might be negative i guess in the end people are free to do what they want, but at least if we make them aware that to ride the stunts means being insured and at the very least we've made them aware of the risks, but it's something that we'll have to make people aware of in terms of getting a donation for a membership to help continue to make the shed a better place to ride. Really, at this point, if you come out to a trail day then you have nothing to worry and neither do we. This is the part that's gonna kill me is having to try and enforce this somehow:o :(

damn. that sucks but if it means we can build then thats what we have to do. i forsee some bad confrontations with that though. do they kicked out of the shed if they dont have a membership or what?

also with this agreement does the city pay for building supplies too or are the builders responsible for their own supples?

09-14-2004, 05:12 PM
Actually I was talking to Brett today about that... as there is no way to enforce it , there will be no members only stuff. We STILL NEED MEMBERS to increase our pull with the city etc so sign up anyway.;)

aShogunNamedMarcus

Since I copy and pasted the original post from an earlier email, I'm assuming the Rec Centre is in fact Pinewood Elementary.

Majin: Look up Pinewood Elementary on mytelus (in delta) and we'll be just down the first trail. I highly severly doubt you'll be able to miss us :)

Al: So we're scrapping the member check idea? I was with Simon on this that I'd hate to be standing there stating someone cant ride b/c they dont have a membership. Confrontation would've been inevitable.

Very excellent...

Rofl, I can imagine Dave or Simon always wanting to travel in packs, to avoid getting mobbed by angry groms when told to get off the stunts... :D

Telling "Freeriders" to get off our public park stunts because they've never met someone who can sign them up for a membership (which would only be once in a while AT BEST) is sillier than the internet-dualing between chad and dave...:)

Well, I'm gonna hit the NSMBA trail day this weekend, but the October date looks good to me.

But only if I get to work with Simon

PS: I will have room to give rides from Richmond for anyone who wants to come out in October. I'll support trail work by offering rides, haha.

Even if the only thing we work on is the goats jumps, by the time we go to the bbq, we'll have put in 5 solid hours with the help of a massive pile of crushed rock stuff...

Plus the jumps are already torn down, so we start from scratch!

WOW!!!!

I am now clean and nice smelling after helping out in the shed. It was a good day to be doing trail work. Sunny and all!!!! There were about 40 people or so, and we all worked together for the Shed Bike Club. The new stuff that was built and improved upon will make the Shed super fun! Big Props go out to Norco for the prizes, Bruiser D, and the organizers for the BBQ, Simon for his excellent trail building skills, and EVERYONE that came out to help. I am proud to say that I am now a Shed Bike Club Member!!!!!

If we're working on Stairway, I think we should gather some cedar ahead of time. Also large logs to use as supports and the like of that sort. That'll make the trail day progress so much faster I think.

w3rd...

But first we must have a soild idea of what we want to create...

I agree though, we could waste the whole day just getting cedar split, and appropriate sized logs found (some of 'em you have to walk a long way for)..
