What area are you building on on Burke??? Is it on Ryan's?, or the west side. I ride there quite a bit and the only other building that I have seen is on upper garbage and the trail to nowhere on Harper around the first corner.

Right now I'm just doing a bit of work on galloway... bridges over creeks.

As for my trail... I've given up. It was supposed to be near flywheel, but right now building in that area is a crapshoot due to all the new houses.

In case you didn't realize, burkebuilder also did not see this thread until BB3 told him 5 days later. If you want to contact a dude, a pm is the best way. Your thread title didn't help either.

Why not run regular usernames, and just form an informal club in your sig, like "Burke Builder Club Member" kinda deal... maybe it would help get some organization to bring Burke the way of the shore? The potential is there!

IMO, it would be best to see what parts of flywheel get paved over first, and only rebuild what needs to be rebuilt. Drainign flywheel is still a good idea tho.

It's funny that the majority of building on Burke mountain is being completed by people that don't go by the handle of Burke_Builder1,2 or 12. I have to say that I take issue with your names. It gives the illusion that you guys are doing lots up there. That is like another group showing up and calling themselves nsmb wrecking crew. if you are serious about building why not do something above harper road or come out on a sunday morning to work on the abyss. I have started building with the abyss builders every sunday morning and we are making headway. We have connected from the top of Ryan's down almost to the bottom with all new trail. Our next project will be to connect another line to upper dump from halfway down Ryan'. Believe me would love the help. And if you really want to fix galloway we have a froe tool and we could split you some excellent planks from burnt stumps further up the mountain. Let's coordinate efforts and let our work do the talking. Thanks guys

All I did was build a ladder over a chunk that had rotted out, and it's a freakin sweet ride. Kinda pointless cuz it's in such a small section of forest, but it's fun and didn't take a lot of work.

That's too bad about Galloway. Twas good.

Speaking of roads going who knows where.. there's something about Burke that's always confused me. The gravel doubletrack that the top section of triple crown dumps onto, at the powerlines.. where does that go (right)?? Cos on the access road up, it doesn't connect... ?

sdubfid

there is a little firepit and some rocks a little ways down, but after that it just gets overgrown or there is no trail, im not sure, but it would probly follow the powerlines to the road up to triple crown, if u go left when u exit upper red r and down the hill, there is a decent viewpoint of the pitt river area.

I have attached a map

15 = upper red r
16 = lower red r
17 = elevator
cut off trail at bottom = galloway

if u don't turn right jsut before galloway you will go up a really rocky road and aventually get to red r and elevator, according to the map. I have never tried it, it'd be something to do with the mule, though.

The faint red line is an access trail that I think should be built.... so you can do just lower red r, or do upper red, elevator, lower red. It'd jsut go under the powerlines, but I'm not sure what type of terrain it is.

that's dope! nice map, i made one waay long ago but it's totally outdated now. what is the name of #26? i rode it last time i was up there, i thought i was going onto triple crown then learned otherwise :D

26 = xing

I got that map out of the book from blak dog ($17.95 :stupid:). one of my goals this season is to create a book of all the trails. That book has not been updated since summer 2001, and it tends to call everyone who reads it a loser. He spends too much time saying don't skid.

yeah, 26 is lost and lazy, with 25 being well good.

only name i've ever heard is lost and lazy:)

as for that access trail you were talking about, i just looked at a topo map and that path looks very steep, but it might be possible, you'd have to look at it in person. Also, if that access path gets built, I say make it hidden:) ;)

That is correct 26 would be lost and lazy. The correct name for the first two parts of Triple Crown above Galloway is Ryan's not upper red r or lower red r. The Abyss. our new trail zig zags across the middle section of Ryan's. It starts out left then part way down crosses ryans to the west. Currently it spits you out about three quarters of the way down Ryan's. We hope to come on the road a little bit above Galloway to eliminate that climb back up
