Rides nice so far... needs some work on the rear end cause the suspension is all backwards, low comp is too hard and the high comp is too soft lol... It ramps down and that's not cool.. I think the front end is fugly but since I'm so far in debt, I can't do anything about that.

Cable routing is pretty off but i'm lazy and it seems to work just fine the way I have it.

I agree with everyone completely. It is so UGLY. Gonna spray paint the bars (yellow => black), brake calipers (red => either light grey to match the s-link or black).

The wheelset is temporary. Gonna build up a new one, black mag30s on michelin rubber... going tubeless. Fork has GOT to go sometime... The only reason it's so ugly is so I can have something to ride when I hit up whistler in 2 weeks... I'm sure you'll all recognize the ugliness if you see me there.

I'd like to get a fork with SPV really badly but I dunno yet. Probably an 888R cause I can get them a bit cheaper then other forks. It's not gonna happen for a long time though. Probably not till next season.

You aren't the first to say that. I didn't have the time to sell the parts off the old rig. Otherwise I would have and got the whole bike.

It's cheaper to buy an 05 V10...

I think I'm the only person in this world that knows how to make those brakes work.

Seriously... everyone says ewwww grimecas... and they tell me their horror stories, but then they try my setup out and they are like WTF?! They are the best working brakes I've ever ridden.... The only brakes I havnt had a good run on are the new 6 piston hopes.

Hayes are total crap compared to mine and these are WAY easyier to work on then hayes are...

grimecas are the best. my hayes are not even a year old and need constant work. the power on the has declined so much i could a new set of brakes for what it will cost to reapir them.

Oh and for those of you that want a closer look at the lines...

http://www.pinkbike.com/modules/photo/?op=view&image=270020

You can see the Jagwire cable housing with the plastic tube over it and if you look right next to it near the top tube, the steel braided brake lines with the tube over it. Also my horrible lazy cable routing.

All gear but no idear.

Hayes brakes are fine. If not, you don't know how to set em up.

i still have the Juicy7's... they are VERY well made brakes...

but not perfect...but then again what is ???

im not selling the juicy's thats for sure..

althou i would like to try the new Saint hydro/XT lever combo...

i stil run the Grimeca system8's on my HT... :thepimp:

Sick bike dude, that will be a blast to rip on.

Hayes are alright, Im just not a big fan of the feel of them. I have a Juicy on the back with an XT up front, My brakes are dialed.. I actually like the combo. The front is 8 inch with tons of power, and the rear is a 6 inch, with plenty of power and an amazing lever feel..

The gremicas are good brakes if set-up correctly, you can find them cheap used somtimes as well.

It's nothing to do with the setup... I dont like them because the stupid lever pull adjustments keeps coming loose every ride so I have to re-adjust everything all the time. Loc-tite doesn't seem to be working either.

I don't like bleeding them either... so annoying. I rather have complete open resiviour rather then a freaking pump to put in new fluid.

UPDATE:

Gettin a new rear wheel in a few days... going back to the 26".

Sound like you need to replace the brass cylinders. Good call on the 26" rear wheel. That bikes made for speed, no sense slowing it down with a 24".

I don't know about that.... It's an 03 P3 with very low mileage. The brakes have just broken in. Mechanically they are fine, its just the adjustment screw that rattles itself loose all the time. I'm also not liking how the pivot is metal on metal... my grimecas have a bushing and the old Hope C2s have some cheap needle bearings, I'd imagine that the shimano XTs also have a bushing..

26" good... I have it in the slack HA 24" hole A position right now and I don't really like it. It's not as lively as it was in the B hole. (haha sounds like I made a funny..)

the fork ruins it for me man

maybe paint the fork and it would look better. The rest of the bike makes the fork look way out of proportion. The forks just too small for the rest of the bike.

Well thats my 2 cents

Agreed. Fork will not be painted. New fork later.

4 pages of blabber (the brake talk excluded of course, there are some good points there) about how his bike "looks".

You kids gotta ride more and worry less about how your gear looks.

It's about the ride.

UPDATE:

Fixed cable routing and re-did the tubes
Fixed Chainguide
26" Doubletrack on the Ringle Lawwill hub
2.5 Michelin comp16
ODI Ruffians

UP NEXT:
e.13 SRS
.243 saddle

WINTER PROJECTS:
Fix worn chain and cassette
Paint bars and calipers
New fork?

This bike owned shit up in Whistler... well not really, the bikerX and A-line claimed my chainguide, rear deraileur cable, and a set of grips. Oddly enough I didn't crash the whole week I was up there. The roller disappeared into the trees on A-line, the guide bent when I cased the first step up on the BikerX (wasn't looking infront of me, hot women walking up hill...), and the deraileur cable decided that it would break inside the housing so I couldnt shift no more, stuck in 9th gear with a 44t ring... uncool. I rode so much that my grips wore down the the inner plastic sleeve too... can't explain that either.

But anyways, best bike I've ridden out of anything so far.... minus the fork.

haha yeah its true... the old wheel was dumb. Now it's way faster.

Rides amazing right now... besides the fact that my seat buzzes pretty bad on the rear wheel on harsh impacts which we have a lot of over here cause Calgary is so flat.
