After breaking my collar bone at Whistler 5 weeks ago, I was finally able to get a ride in last night. It was a road ride, but everything seemed in order so the big bikes shouldn't be far behind.

Out of shape, wheezing up the hills, nervous on the DH speed sections, sweating like a pig in the afternoon heat.

MAN, I MISSED MY BIKE(S)!!:D

WHAT ???

your bones should be almost fully "knitted" back together after 8 weeks... have u been to your Doctor recently ??

cuz thats messed up...

you do have to let the bones heal for the required time or else it'll never heal properly...

i gave my collarbone the full 8 weks before i even tried to use it again... and sure enuf even the HUGE eggshaped calcium deposit that grew around where the bone broke went away...

which people tell me is unusual as alot fo times that growth remians forever after...mine u cant even tell where the bone broke anymore...:thepimp:

I pampered this injury more than anything before it and it really paid off. I feel totally fine now and the only strain happens when lifting stuff in weird directions (like the front of a bike).

Gotta say, I'm a big fan of laying off it as much as possible now.

Well my first real ride went well, only did about a four foot drop and alot of tech stuff and couldn't notice my injury :) and I'm heading up to Mt. washington next weekend for my first time biking there
