Have been hearing lots of rumours etc. that the co. was going out of business, warehouse seized, accounts frozen etc.

Checked their site, and found this update:

UPDATE!
Thanks to all the concerned calls from riders and friends of Karpiel Designs Ltd! For all who do not know, Jan Karpiel had his finger severed in a mechanical accident in late June. While his hand is being surgically reconstructed, the offices of Karpiel Design Ltd. (caught in the process of moving locations) will be temporarily closed in order to allow him the required recovery time. All current bike orders will be completed and shipped. No new orders will be taken for another 120 days. The owners of equipment currently being repaired/modified will be contacted directly.

We appreciate all the support shown to Jan during this period (and are amused at rumors that he is dead, deported, arrested, bled to death in a ditch, etc...). Thanks again to all who called, wrote and offered support. Look for updates to this site and company news to follow in September of 2004.

Prolly. I dont see the need for more when you make a bike with 12" of suspension. Cant be alot of demand for those.

EDIT: you know...it help to read what the post actullay says......yes, I am a moron. It's good to hear they are still working to some extent.

I posted the demise of Karpiel a while ago in the gear forum. I was not a big fan of their bikes, but I hate to see a bike company fo down.

It's shocking, but they make more than one kind of bike.

Your trying to burn the small-guy operation would be more effective if you knew something about the products he crafts.

They make the disco volante which can be setup as like a "weekend warriors" race bike. I know a guy who weighs 230 pounds and does huge hucks and has overshot big gaps nose first, and the bike is like new. I would get a disco volante any day....if I had the money.
