View Full Version : heads up - parking tickets on Mtn. Hwy.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this here, but when climbing at the top of Mtn. Highway a few weeks ago I noticed a bunch of cars (most with bike racks) had parking tickets on them. From what I could tell, they were parked legally so I looked at a ticket and it was for "Failure to turn wheels toward curb when parked on hill". I didn't notice how much the fine was.

So remember to turn the wheels toward the curb when you park on the hill! It seems they occasionally enforce this rule.

what a dumb ticket. pigs have too much time on their hands. they could be trying to solve that stolen banshee from that 15 yr old.

Before anyone starts ragging on the police, I think these tickets were issued from DNV by Bylaw Enforcement Officers. Typically parking bylaws of this kind aren't enforced unless there is a complaint.

the NV parking police are DEF. hunting and specifically targeting Bikers vehicles....

in no uncertain terms they are trying to get us off the hill...

some of the bylaw's they can nail u with are so stupid...

basicly driving to Grousse almost feels like your poaching... total bad vibe on that hill these days....

Perhaps, but this particular one is in the drivers manual and covered in the test you took to get your license.

It's also quite dangerous if you don't turn your wheels on a hill. I don't have a problem with tickets when they enforce safety rules.

the other one to watch out for is parking too close to a driveway, stopsign/intersection or fire hydrant...

So don't park on mountain highway:rolleyes: Park on dempsey or down at the school on coleman and <OMG> ride up. Don't give them any reason to ticket.

Take it easy Cypress Hill...

The "pigs" (most people call them Police) are not the one's issuing tickets on Mountain Highway. The people who handle this are bylaw enforcement officers.

Even if it was the police (which it isn't), you can't be mad at them for issuing tickets and not solving more important crime...if people would just follow the rules they could be directing their efforts elsewhere, like finding bike thieves.

The problem is police DON'T have too much time on their hands, they don't have enough time because there are too many losers out there doing dumb stuff taking them away from more important issues.

The ticket isn't dumb, the driver who parks on a hill without turning the wheels is dumb. I know two people who parked like that on very slight grades and didn't even use their parking brake. They just left the car in gear on their standard transmission. They return to their car to find it has, in one case driven itself down Burrard St in Downtown Vancouver, bounced off another car and ended up on the steps of a bank, thankfully no one was hit. Now that is dumb. Learn to drive, read the parking signs and obey them, learn how to park and guess what, no ticket. And for all those assholes who thought photo radar was an massive invasion of privacy and all, drive at or near the speed limit, no tickets. What's the rush anyway. Take your time, leave earlier and you'll get there. And turn off the friggin mobile phone when your driving.

thats a completely ghey ticket... but it doesn't surprise me.

I used to think "hey, the ticket guy is just doing his job" but clearly he's also doing someone else's dirty work, cough-residents-cough

Its really hard to maintain respect for the residents when they do stuff like this. I know, some of them are cool but, unfortunately, those aren't the ones who we get to deal with. Then again, only a small number of riders piss in yards, change in the street, etc. but we all have to pay the price.

Last year an old lady in a van hit the wheels on my truck BECAUSE they were turned into the curb. And then she tried to absolve herself of guilt by saying that my wheels were sticking out into the road.

Bryce, sounds like you're scraping the bottom of the barrel for an excuse.

Sorry bud, but I'm not buying it.

thing is though.. i've seen cars with dnv parking passes with tickets also, so to be fair they're getting everyone.
