Myself and some others have noticed white cube van on the seymour climb repeatedly.
On one climb, when the van passed it, it stopped and waited for us to get closer, which we did not. At that point, some skid mark got out of the cab, went to the back did something, got back in the cab and left.
I saw the same truck by Parkgate on Monday, and rat saw it on the seymour road as well.
I am thinking either they are "farmers" or are trying to roll someone for their bike.
Let keep an eye out and post here if you see anthing.
I have called the cops on this and have their plate, but the cops were busy attending a donut sale.

Hmm. Good on you for posting this, sounds a little fishy.
Heads up people, hopefully it's nothing but you never know.
Don't approach them and if they come to you , you can out pedal them. They won't expect a fight, so suprise them.
mabey they are just contractors working on the ski hill. I think you might have a little "paranoia".

maybe, but when we saw them the first time, after they stopped, they kept going up the hill again. then they came down while we were still climbing...if they were doing work up there would they not stay longer? and why did they stop ahead of us and wait?
i don't know, i know i am paranoid but after hearing some of the shait that has been going down as far as bike thefts, nothing would surprise me.
i've see people shit kicked for a six pack....

Union workers?
as was said before, hopefully it's nothing, but it's not a bad idea for people to be aware.

now you got me really paranoid about that seymour road. :(
when I saw the van with Putty they looked most like sightseers by the way they were driving. but you don't normally expect to see surrey crackheads (sorry) in a sketchy van sightseeing...
Putty

where they stopped was not exactly a high value view either...

well just in case they are innocent...its in my other thread tho...is it ok to post a plate in a case like this?

In a case like this I think it would be alright since you're not instructing to people to bottle it and in general, mess the van up.
Its just a warning and if we all know which exact van it is and we all see it quite often, it may become more clear what they're doing if there's more reports of it.

theyre not working for the ski hill.I know this because I work there.I know there was some work being done on the tower at the old CBC entrance, but they should have been done a long time ago.
Good news though, the cops are patrolling the road more often now.
Where have they been seen on the mountain road?If any one sees them and can get to the maintenance shop quick enough,I can hop in a company truck and go give em the whats up...

derwood - i saw them on the mountain road about 2 k up, the pulled over on that little pullout before the BP. on monday I saw them at the crosswalk at parkgate, but i waited to see where they were going, and they went up seymour again.

I saw them Monday as well. Around 9pm, they kept stopping randomly. On the way up they stopped @ Mushroom parking then @ Hangman parking. On the way down they stopped @ the bottom of CBC pullout. Two scuffy white males in a 1t cubevan with a 4" blue stripe @ the lower edge of the box.

Time to start carrying a "spare" seat post with us boys and girls. While fixing an old one i noticed that they would be a nice weapon. just keep an eye on them!!!

i posted a long time ago about a suspicious van in the mushroom parking lots back lot (past the ticket machine) and a guy just sitting in it. if my memory is correct it was a wierd white cube van.
just thought i'd pass it along in hopes if they are thieves people can avoid them.

Good for you Putty...I myself was passed by the same (probably)white cube van while ridingup Seymour 2 Friday's ago. I had a really weird feeling about the occupants as it was well past usual working hours and these boys looked pretty scummy (I won't say Surrey like - more like Hastings Street Heroin) to be heading up the mountain. Anyways I didn't get the plate but it was a pretty run down unit. The van came down as I was still riding up and I din't see any broken windows in the PL's - but I have a feeling you may be on to something here....Thanks for posting the plate # - I am sure someone on the BB has connections and will run the plate.

actually i was fixing my ride the other day and a crank arm wiht a brand new pedal would be pretty deadly. add in BB if you want extra destruction force

Wowzers...WTF are these dudes up to? No cars are getting broken into, but it sounds like they're pretty active on the roads there. I think somebody mentioned a grow-op on another thread.
If so, keep your noses peeled on that Rambo mission;)

I saw the cube van again on Friday Evening...this time the guy from it waved at us to stop from the side of the road. He was parked in the Baden Powell PL at approximatley 7pm. We stopped to see what he wanted and he made up some obviously b.s. question about the BP trail. "Where does that trail go? - Is it good for hiking? Does it go up the mountain?" The guy was NOT dressed for a hike - nor did he look sober enough to even walk across the street - let alone up a trail. I think he was checking out the truck we were driving and having a quick look inside. Anyways, we got the plate #. It is the exact same as the one Putty has seen - 5274 EX with a 4" Blue stripe down the side. I also got a really good look at the driver. We decided to forgo the ride and hide in the bushes to watch the truck. Of course - no cube van pulled into the lot. I'm starting to think that this Van is more likely associated with "farming" activities - but who knows? Just because the guy didn't break into our truck this time doesn't mean he wasn't thinking about it. I will be reporting this to the NV RCMP and the BC Parks Rangers but would like to get more info for them. If any of you who have seen the van could PM me with time/day of week of the sighting I will give that info to them as well. Also, if you have been broken into on Seymour it would be good to get the same info (date/time) from you. Putty - I think you had a thread to get this info at some point (and an RCMP file#) but I couldn't find it. If you could point me to it - or get me that info it would be great. Thanks.

i don't think it would be crops, it would be hella hard to plant a show on the side of the mtn.....although if you just randomly planted...Now the gods would truly love me if I just "stumbled" on that

What time on thurs Derwood? Where on the mountain did you see them? I understand you not wanting to post and point fingers at possibly "the wrong van" but these guy(s) sure seem to be up there alot! Thanks.

i saw another cube van up there, it didnt seem fishy or anything it was just on the road, but this one looked kinda new with some sort of funky work rack. kind of reminded me of the bat mobile.
BC plate ... 5562 dk
just something to be aware of. if the plate being posted just delete that part. i got the plate written down as well.

carry some spike strips and when you see the van looming about, toss em and hide in the bushes. then do your civic duty and call the cops to have them come and help these poor cube-van driving people.

:) That's a great idea.
I would think a high-powered rifle would be more fun to work with.;)

Yeah but what if they are just growers? I don't wanna bust growers - it just raises my price in the end  :D
that would be a pretty ghetto grow-op so I doubt it

Well, the thing is now, a lot of people are aware of them, and if they decide to jack someone, everyone will know who they are. The cops are aware of them as well.
Get the word out, let them know we know they are there, and it may spook them.
Just be smart people.
