Is $4200 brand new a good deal for this bike? Is there any major differences between the 02,03,04 etc? other then specs?

i personally think they're trying to rip people off. The bikes been sitting in the shop since 02 and never been ridin or anything. I don't think they would get more then $3500 tax in. Anyone have any opinions?

No, its not a good deal for that bike.

There are some subtle differences in the model years with linkage plates and swingarms being the larger differences.

If its all completely unused and all the parts are 2002 models, I'd say 2800 tops tax in. But thats me and I'm bitter ;)

You should ask them why they feel its worth 4200 or justify the 4200, when you can get some mighty fine 04 brand options (different brands even) for the same amount.

yeah i was currently looking at the devinci ollie and i can get it for $4,000 tax in just some bad things have happened lately around here like my grandpa dieing and she was going to help me finance so now i'm going the cheaper route. I'm still desperately trying to get a full suspension but if that fails i'll build up another hardtail. I was thinking about offering them $3,000 tax in at the most and cash if possible. Specialized does have a good warranty though don't they? Like i'd still get warranty so if i did manage to break the frame i would probably get a new frame off warranty eh?

if the shop wont go lower on the price, passs it up...

thats WAY to much for a bike thats been sitting on the shop floor for 3 seasons...

the 03+ models ahve a much burlier stiffer link plate, that also offers adjustable travel and geomerty changes...

unless you can get that 02 BIGHIT DH for about 2500$, i'd say let it continue to sit on the LBS's floor...

:(

So if i do get ahold of this bike since i'm original owner i wouldn't have any trouble getting warranty if anything did happen with the frame though right?
