i was looking in the buy/sell, and i came across a 2002 super 8 frame, wiht a small/tiny crack in the swing arm. Apparently they are pretty common in that place, but it doesn't grow or break, so i don;t think i should be too concerned. I was jsut wondering what a fair price to offer to the guy would be??

thank you

p.s. it comes wiht a fox RC shock, and rear wheel + hub.

:)

you can actually get teh rear swingarm welded up solid so it wont flex/crack again...

but seeing as the frame is cracked i wouldn't pay more then 250$ for it..and at that price the shock better be mint, and the rear hub better work as expected...

hahahah....

its your money...

ask yourself why you'd pay 500$ for a frame thats 3 seasons old with a tired old shock and a CRACKED frame ????

do the math...

Best thing ever... 98 Stinky Dee frame, 14 cracks, blown RX shock, bent linkage plates, brand new bolts and hardware... buddy of mine sold it for $250 CDN to an XC rider last year.

And the XC guy offered that much. Then we see the frame built up by some kid in brazil on pinkbike... still had all the original raceface and bow cycle stickers on it with the same linkage plates and shock... so funny.

Assuming a functional complete wheel with hub and the shock works....it's worth more than $250:rolleyes:

med super 8, NO cracks, made after 2002, with a barely used 5th Element shock, race face headset, thompson seat post, plus rear hub and extra drop out. Will deliver it out to you in burnaby for $900 firm.

counterpoint frame is a pretty good deal (wish I had a few extra $$...bloody honda transmission). I have an RC with the bighit valving on it..feels awesome..but with a 5th would be cool to try out.

IFO do you know where about the S8 crack? I look around mine and haven't seen any (knock on wood).

i got my uised 02 super 8 frame with rear hadley laced on d321 with rubber, thompson seatpost and ok rc for 640 after tax.

i love it, but i wouldnt mind 5th.

damn if counterpoint had sold it earlier, i wouldnt mind dropping 400 mnore for the 5th.. i guess i'll do 5th next summer if i keep this frame till then

You must have bought it from a consignment shop or something ? No tax on private sales.

Scooby, they tend to crack along the top of the swingarm just in frt of the tire along the welded Webbing...

heres a good photo that shows the web-truss on the Super-8's swingarm

clean your frame really good and look yours over closely...

local buddy of mine had his swingarm welded up solid right there... it actualyl looks better then factory, but it did add some weight to his frame...

but his swingarm will never flex/crack again... its god dam SOLID now...
