I figure I'll sort out my oil leakage problem (here (http://bb.nsmb.com/newforum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43708&highlight=slider+oil) ) and do a total tear down of the forks while I'm at it. I bought them used, and haven't looked at them since I bought them, so I figure it's probably a good idea to give them a check over.

What will I need? I've got 5w fork oil, but it's not synthetic.

My question is regardig the semibath oil, will I need different oil for this? The manual says I need 5-40wt semibath oil, but I'm not sure if that means the oil weight can be 5 to 40 weight, or what :???:

Also, are there any weird tools I'll need? I have keys, metric, imperial sockets etc.

If I'm taking the spring assembly out of the left leg, what do I grease it with? I have the manitou brand lube I used to have to put in my old fork through those injection ports... is this what they would want, or can I just use something generic like the park tools grease?

Thanks in advance!!!

I know some thing for you the semi abth oil is not 5 -40 weights it 5/40. And for the grease you just need green grease the manitou stuff you have now will work fine. Im looking forward to hearing about it i need to do this to mine also.

my friend had that leaking problem too. suposively it happens to all sliders. take off the blue cap, tighten the bolt underneath that and then put the blue nob back on. it wont stop the leeking but it will slow it down.

you sounds good to go buddy...

your gunna laff when u see how easy it is to service the lowers...

sounds like u should be expecting to need a new seal for the bottom of the rebound leg thou...:(

your Prep-M grease is fine for lubing the spring by the way...its what i use...

Thanks IFO, so just to be clear though, I'll need some 5/40wt oil, in addition to my plain old 5wt?

You need 5w40 oil for your seals (put about 16cc to each leg from the hole at the bottom of your fork). Motor oil is fine and I confirmed this with the Manitou tech in CA. The 5wt suspension oil is for yor cartridge on your SPV leg. Issume yours is a slider+ so put 128cc (135cc for non SPV) into your SPV cartridge.
