Yesterday I waxed both of my bikes (Santa Cruz Bullit, Banshee Scratch) for the first time ever. So far it seems to be a really good thing to do. It even helps them stay cleaner. And it helps you notice things that need fixing.

My question is this, have people been doing this for years and I just now found out about it or do not enough people realize how beneficial it is to wax your bike?

Yes.

I did it to my old XC bike, used the Turtlewax that you buff on then you kinda scrape off the wax. It was really good, it stayed clean longer, and water would bead off it when i hosed it down. Too bad it takes about an hour to do properly. I dont do it on my fully beacause its got a matte paintjob, and because it would be a pain to get around all the pivots and linkage.

I "Armor-all"ed my saddle when it was looking beat down.
Lets you slide off the back really easy, unfortunately you slide off in all directions all the time

If you put pam on your bike in muddy conditions then it helps the mud to fall off when you are riding (keeps the bike lighter for racing).

you put turtle wax on leave it for a minute and then buff it untill it dissapears... theres no scraping involved.

i've done it on occasion... waxed my bike that is

Cleaned up my old beater BMX with a kerosene solution:eek: Actually worked incredibly well. A buddy at work with a bitchin' Camaro who regularly parks in the sea breeze recommended it. It's the old school way of getting a shine. Gets down in all those hard to reach spots too.

I only wax my bike when it's looking pretty hairy and I'm taking it to the beach. :P
