Ah Rocky, handmade Canadian goodness. Love them guys. But go Fluid. Had a Slayer, too lightweight/ XC (read broke).

Have you thought about Giant? The AC2 is a nice all round trail bike. Or the Giant VT if you're into spending a little more cash.
Whatever you decide on, try for a test ride before you purchase.

Screw the Giant, Screw the Kona, Screw the Rocky... The original fluid was about as perfect an all around bike as you could get, I ride a 4x4 (nearly identical) and I love the frame, an 02 fluid is alot beefier than the 03-04 models, they made them more similar to the Spec. Epic those years, go for the Fluid; with gears and a lighter set-up, it'll climb like a monster, and have more than enough travel for the reward/downhill. The frames are really good in the standover department, and they seem to have a pretty low center of gravity read: they rail turns like crazy.
why not look into a Rocky Switch SL...

spesh bighit (if you suck at pedaling, don't get the spesh) fluid is next best.

After looking at a few bikes (including what you're looking at), I got the Kona Coiler (personal preference, and it was about $2K CDN). Take one for a spin.
Whatever you get, I'd suggest a coil shock. In my opinion, the Fox Vanilla series with Propedal feels much better than their Float series. I've never noticed any pedal bob, yet the rear reacts to bumps very well, and at 230lbs a 550lb spring is more than adequate.
I would recommend the Fluid. I have an 03 Fluid 2 with a Fox vanilla R with ProPedal (great pedaling!), singletracks, and a shorter stem. It weighs in at 38lbs, not light but it climbs great and it rides well on rolling XC. Riding the stunts and downhill is great, lowstandover and a low centre of gravity give you great control. Unless you are planning on doing large hucks, the frame is definatly strong enough.

I like that Davinci. Check out the transition Dirtbag. Can run it at 5" of travel and if you feel like updrading just put it up to 6" of travel. That is my bike of choice right now and Kevin (one of the owners) is a great guy, been really great and has answered all my stupid questions and has helped me out quite a bit. I am going to give a full write up when I get my bike built up, and I will tell ya'll everything.

I can't say this enough, skip all the "walking beam" type suspensions, Giant AC, Kona, Devinci etc. they cannot compare to the pedaling feel of a Horst linked rear end...it aint hype yall, FSR/VPS is the shizzznit,

I've not seen the Dirtbag. Is it similar to the Chili Pepper?
