So I finally got my sherman slider today and my god is it ever awesome. I put it on my 02 Torrent and the difference in rise is about 1". I was thinking I would need to scrap my 24" rear, but I can forget about that. Oh and this is 170mm were talkin here. The fork looks beef and is light too.

Now my question to the good people of this board is how do I set up SPV for me? I bought it OEM so no box or instructions.

I am 150lbs

IFO, you're always such a Manitou booster, but your BH has a 888. What's up with that? :D

I have a Slider Plus on my 03 Rampage with a 24 rear, so we have very similar setups. Im 150 and i run my spv at 65-70 and it feels good. Ditching the 24 isnt nessicary in my opinion. I like the way my bike rides, and i dont find it very slack at all, but really its all personal prefrence.

Wasn't it you saying that you liked a tall front end?

Now just be like me and run a 0 rise stem, 1 inch rise bars, no spacers and a short fork.. its the best :)

Hey IFO!

Not sure if you were being serious about having an MRD. If you do, please give us a review on it. After riding a Breakout with SPV I'm starting to like a fork that does not dive under braking.

I have a picture saved of IFO's bike, he posted it a while back and I liked it.

So here it is, with the MRD X-works.

No offense to Mr.IFO 'cause he rules, but when you claim an 8 pound fork to be a "pig" and too heavy, that's just wrong!

What is the MRD? 7.5lbs?

I often eat lunches that weight more than 8 lbs!!

Pinner alert! :D

What's the difference between the Dorado, Slider, Super T, and 888 (in your opinion). Forget fork height and turning radius - everyone knows about that. I'd like to know what the diff is with regards to big hits, drops, rolling high stuff into ruts, absorption through a lot of high speed bumps (i.e. rock gardens), etc.

its hard to explain... all i know is the 888R simply affected my riding in mostly negative ways..

when i had the 04 super-T i never had a problem with hoisting the frt end...

but when i slapped the 888R on, i suddenly began to have REAL issues with it.. i tried a shit load of different ideas/techniques, but nothing could help me out...

it started to affect my riding confidence... which is obvoisuly BAD news...

so when i got the chance to get a MRD i jumped on it... instantly the "heavy frt end feelign" was gone...

i can now easily hoist the frt end of slow speed drops again...

and as for the TALL frt end thing, i still liek it TALL.. but the 888R was to tall...

in fact i didnt even notice how much slow speed steering precsion i had lost until i took the 888 off...

while the 888 is a quality fork, and i dont wanna come off ans sounding Anti-Zokie, the fork simply didnt suit me... and i dont miss it...

the MRD's ride quality is worlds better then the 888 aswell... both work great but the MRD eats up everything u point the bike at, in fact it makes u wanna ride faster cuz it smooths everything out so well...

high speed rock gardens dissapear under your tire...

as for full review of the MRD i dont have enuf time on it yet to have a fully informed opinion...

so far its been amazing, but i've only got 10 rides on it or so...

IFO, what you are saying makes total sense. Today I sat on an RMX with a 888R. Felt like a chopper. Tall fork and very slack head angle. I would have problems on the local trails with that setup. Marzocchi is making the 888 lower for next year, so that should help them out with the fork (I doubt bike manufacturers are going to change their angles for one fork).

I've been looking at something like a Shiver or 888 as a replacement for my Super T, but for now I definitely don't want to be adding weight and offset to my bike.

Thanks for the info.
