Hey all, I know a guy up here in PG selling his Banshee Scream frame for $900...thats with a Fox Vanilla R rear shock....
I am kinda stuck on whether or not I wanna buy it now, and sell my Norco Launch frame
So what I am asking is, How much of a difference will I notice goin from a Launch to a scream? I heard the pedal bob on a scream is alot mroe noticeable than on a Norco? Will it be a sale I regret?

For 900 I would proboaly just stick with what you have. That is unless you really hate it or something. I don't think you would regret it but I haven't spent that much time on a Banshee either.
its not worth selling your VPS for a Banshee...
esp one with a Vanilla R...
keep your Norco man...

IMO the only advantage to Banshee is their burly build, and their apparently great customer service, as far as suspension systems, your VPS will make you happier... it's not like the Norco's really known for exploding suddenly on people either eh...

is the banshee brand new? abused? what year is it?
i wouldnt even give it a serious thought unless you pedaled it around and knew you liked it more than your norco.
now to say its not worth selling his vps for a banshee...thats kind of...one sided, eh? maybe it is...you dont know that. plus if the banshee has a vanilla R on it and the vps does as well...
ehhh, it comes down to preference in the end...
give the scream a test ride...some love them, some hate them...personally, unless the bike is basically new, or i fell in love with the scream after riding it...or i was starting to hate the vps, i wouldnt make the change.

With the Vanilla-R you can lock out the rear suspension, meaning no bob at all

No thats on the RL the R only has rebound and preload adjustment. I wouldnt do that deal your launch is a better bike in my opinion. As said before the banshees are only good for being really beefy bikes. Your launches suspension is far better. Thats a really high price for the banshee also. It would be mabey more like that price if it had a 5th and was still in very good condition.

good call man, and I stick to my original statement echoed by NickS: the Banshee is beefy and strong...yes, but the VPS rear-end is a better ride IMO
The ride is stricktly personal preferance. Your probably doing the smartest thing as you know excactly what kind of abuse your frame has had. The scream..... who knows for sure. Although I have to say I rode both when I was shopping and now I'm the happy owner of a scream(does have an avy though).

If pedal bob is the only thing holding you back, then go for it the Scream pedals very well.
Why sell the Lauch though? That's a nice bike. Is the noisy frame getting to you?
The size differences between the two frames will probably be the biggest thing, Norco and Banshee have very diff sizing. THat and the Banshee is a lot shorter, less stable/ more nimble.

*shakes head while grinning* compared to a VPS/FSR rear end?...NO, it doesn't pedal all that well, a perfectly set up Swinger/Fifth may help it alot, but it's still not as sweet as a horst link equiped bike...

I've ridden everthing at interbike every year, and everything and at bike shops all over place, and any bike that I can borrow on the trail. I can tell you for a fact: Many faux-4 bar bikes DO pedal all that well.
Side by side a Scream is a better pedaler than a long travel Fox equipped VPS. VPS is more active, and better in other areas, but for an 8" bike the Scream is a stellar pedaller and very hard to beat.

but a scream equiped with the same FOX shock will wallow in its travel as u climb the same as the FSR design will...
u cant compare a 5TH equiped frame to a reg. RC style shock equiped frame...
