If you were at the bottom of Whistler on Sunday around 4pm, you might have had the chance to see a Rotec shear in half. The resounding crack along with the WOAH from the crowd was enough to capture everybody's attention.
Here's some pics of the carnage that ensued..

'Nother one....
Apparently it already had a couple hairline cracks but Mr. Mac threw caution to the wind and paid the price.

Hah yeah...if you somehow mounted a seat it could be a unicycle...
Pretty bad when the strength of the whole rear end of a bike depends on the weld around the bottom bracket shell.
Chris should be on the R&D teams of all manufacturers..

Just to inform anyone that cares to know, that rotec was an older 2000/2001 version with the ol skol moto link that had a prior history of breaking in that same spot.
And as for that frameset, it was a frame that had been around the shop, pits and country before it was given as a loner to Felix last year by us when his rotec got stolen. After which it was refurbed and went to Chris a few months back.
Btw, Chris will get a new frameset with a larger shock to boot. Felixs rotec todate is the newest 2004 design that has no linkage so his won't go thru the same loads issues at the BB. Regardless, that old frame had 3 prior owners/riders before it broke. So please don't confuse it with the new design.
God knows I don't need the confusion between the old design that was built by the orginal owners of rotec and the new design that came about after I bought the company in 2002. The new design was released in 2003 as protoypes and the production models came out this year.
Peace!

That's my call on anyone that repeatedly breaks shit.
There are tons of riders that rip it up hardcore on various frames with no issues while there are a few that are "hardcore" cuz they break everything they touch....special.

I have a couple buddies that shreds parts and the occasional frame on a regular basis...I've been hanging around them too much as it appears that I've caught that bug.
Good to see he was able to walk away from that. Sounds like it was an intense moment to say the least.
