Fun day today at the 4th Annual Belly Big Air, thanks to everyone who came out to compete and watch...I hope everybody had a good time! Everybody was ripping it up. Pro class was really hard to judge cuz everybody was damn good and really smooth/stylee...hard to place one rider as being better than the next. I looked over the judging sheets and it seemed that all the judges had completely different placing orders, which goes to show you how close the competition was.
Local ripper Patrick Doll won the comp by boosting super high off the big set with a couple of nice supermans, normal and opposite x-ups, a no-can, and utilized the transfer line. After the judging was over, he pulled a sick backflip over the last jump in the transfer line which got the crowd pretty amped. Vaughn Larson did nice tricks on consecutive jumps: crankflips, a nothing, nice no handers, superman seatgrab. Spencer Baldwin was so smooth and flowy, doing nice stylee trix like seatgrab whips, stylee tables, and one handers on a lot of consecutive jumps. Josh Maurer I thought should have placed higher, he was boosting so high and had really nice style, sucide no hander, etc. Trevor Louviere was also super stylish and smooth, also boosting big heel clicker/cliffhanger things in the big set. Cameron McVicker went for some 360's and stuck one nice, and also walked home with the raffled 2004 Kona Cowan DJ frame.
Anyhow, heres the ranking:
Pro class (5 judge panel):
1- Pat Doll, Bellingham, WA
2- Vaughn Larson, Bellingham, WA
3- Spencer Baldwin, Bellingham, WA
4- Josh Maurer, Abbotsford, BC
5- Trevor Louviere, North Bend, WA

Amateur class (crowd judged):

2- Taylor Ross, Maple Ridge, BC

If anyone got pix, post em up! Good times, hope to see more Canadians next year.......
