way back on april 14 i ordered my scream frame from bikeroom expecting a 2 week delivery due to "production delays." 2 months later i finally have my frame.
these two months prooved to be a living hell as issue after issue arose with the availability and delivery of the frame. up to this point i had nothing but great transactions with bikeroom. fast, friendly, cheap.
this time around, i was given a killer dealer through a BR employee, so i couldn't really complain, yeah, i saved that much.
in the end, i decided to make a compromise in the specifics of my order in order to just get riding. i was kinda bitter at this point, and wasn't gonna do bike business online ever again. (i should point out though, that when i was a regular customer i never had any problems whatsoever)
dave felt really bad about everything, so he did some amazing things to make me a happy, happy, bikeroom customer again.
thanks and huge props to Daver and my bro Vladomatic at Bikeroom!

i live by bikeroom for building my race bmx. nothing but good times
glad things worked out...
Dave some times takes alot of flack for gear not being avaiable...
people need to realize its not like he actually makes the stuff he sells...
:(
but i feel your pain waiting for stuff to arrive...im currently awainting the Kenda Blue grooves to come in off back order...
Kenda must be selling a ton of these new tires...Dave cant get em outa any of his distributors currently..

is it worth it for just shifters, and levers, or should i just go to my lbs and have them do it for me?:)
Bikeroom dont do installs...
its purely sales...
as for pricing, only u can decide whats a better option...
installing shifters and levers is hella easy thou...

Bikeroom is worth it. I buy 80% of my stuff there. But I wrench almost my entire bike. I can't afford to pay lbs's up here to do work and buy parts.

There actually were "production delays" due to their/pacific's poor quality control. First almost all the 04 swing arms were defective (huge recall, took forever to get replacement), then apparently a batch of the main 04 frames were also defective. The main frame problem may actually be quite widespread since my friend's cracked and his wasn't even in the group of known defective frames. It's really disappinting because Banshee's 03 products have proven to be really solid, and Banshee made a very nice design update for 04.

wow. If that's true, I'm super glad that I got a VP-Free instead. When I went down to the LBS to plunk some money down for my order on a Scream, I ended up with the VP-Free on order instead. I guess the weight of the Scream frame kinda spooked me. Plus, I had a 2003 Bullit and loved it.
I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about waiting for a frame. Especially this year, it seems that lots and lots of parts are not available because of raw material shortages, etc.
I ordered my VP-Free back in February or March, (I'd have to check my receipt), and I'm still waiting. I've got a nice hardtail to ride in the meantime, so it's not too bad.
Edit: on the Bikeromm note, I've ordered from them 3 times, (headset, some cogs, bottom bracket) and have had nothing but good dealings. I have more business on the way for them too. :D

the scream weighs like 2 more pounds then the vp ... if that ?

Depending on what size you order:
Scream = 13.5 to 14 lbs
VP-Free = 9.5 to 10.5 lbs
I'm no weight weenie either. My SS .243 weighs a little over 40 lbs. I expect my VP-Free to be in the 41-43 lbs ballpark.

I'm too embarrassed to say...
You realize that when something is new and shiny and when everyone else wants one, and there aren't very many, you end up paying more right???
My wife was very disappointed to find out that the frame alone was $2319.99 CDN. Ouch. (med, trans-red, 5th element)

That is quite a reasonable price for a bike frame like that. I think it is incredible Santa Cruz can produce those frames for so little. We just got our first one here at the shop and it is worth every cent, you will love it! Look at an Intense or a Foes or even a Rocky RMX. The VPfree is quite reasonably priced.

No doubt! Slamigo, I figured you were gonna say like $3000 CDN or more. I'm really surprised that they can produce them so cheaply. Jeez, I might even consider one of those for my next frame.
