Some buddies came into town for some bike park action. We went up Weds. We ripped off some runs and then tore down dirt merchant, ending up at the clearing by crack addict where they have the intermediate skills area. One guy goes up on this little platform intending to drop off the end. Slow speed he missed his pedal kick or something and went over his handlebars and landed on his neck. Now he is paralyzed and they say with luck he may regain the use of his arms.
So be careful out there, it was an incredibly innocent manoveur and it went horribly bad. There was another injury that day too there, same thing.
Huge props to the mountain patrol and Whistler medical clinic. They are incredibly good and very empathetic as well.
