As long as there isn't another beer driver's strike on at the same time, I know I'll be okay.

Oh - and I hope noone gets hurt

Yah this season is going to suck. I am heading up to Kelowna at the end of the month, and I am almost scared to see how dry it is up there. Enjoy now folks, because it is only going to get worse :(

It is going to take a flood to make k-town safe from fires. Being up there in the spring just as snow was melting in the backcountry you could see how bad this year is going to be. Last year at the end of the summer they had little rain. So all that dry timber on the ground froze with the snow. Snow melts and nothing absorbed the moisture. As soon as the snow melted it looked like mid august in frickin march. They may have had some rain lately, but being an ex k-towner, i can tell ya that all the rain they had means nothing after a week of 32+ degree heat. Not to mention how low the lakes are already.

I wonder what will happen if everything surrounding whistler gets shut down......will whistler be forced to close? Or since it is privaely owned will it stay open for buisiness? I was suprised it didnt shut down last year.

Whistler has fire equipment. Theyre allowed to stay open.

Oh no, not another Summer of Fire. I really do like it when it's sunny and all, but not at the cost of peoples homes and lives. I'd rather cool sunny days like around the 22 degree mark. This 29+ business sucks, and as for rain? Well I like it too, it keeps it all cool, and the dust down. Now if we could only get the rain to cover all fire bound areas:( .
I think it's going to be very bad agian.

its pretty dry up on tzouhalem. i was up on the weekend and it wouldn't be hard to start a major fire up there. maple mountain is the same way. fuck its so dry a spark from hitting your pedal on a rock could do. :(

God forbid the shore close, but it's comforting knowing that Whistler will still be there to serve my riding addition.

Ya think the government of BC would do something like a giant sprinkler system around the towns so that they wouldn't burn down.... of course $$$ would be an issue and maybe even getting the water. But when you think about how many homes and businesses it could save, i'd say its worth it. Shit, if they figure out an efficient way to do it and keep the costs down, you could probably start adding a line every 5km or so to help with the fires that start in the middle of no where.

Lots of powerful pumping stations would be needed too... yeah i'd say money is a HUGE issue with this idea lol... but you gotta admit it would be pretty cool.
