Collective just did it for me. It pushed ride to the hills in my opinion. Good job to everyone who worked on this project. It is unreal, i still can't believe it and give me that feeling of just taking my bike out right now to go ride. Congrats.

Is it RTTH2?
did jorlie make this film?
the Collective is like a "walking talking" AD for Specialized...
i LOVE it....
;)
if anyone left that show not wanting to go rip it on a Demo9, they must have no pulse....
Romaniuk and BEARCLAW's sections were amazing... and give a true feel to just how BIG their lines are....
:thepimp: :thepimp:
wicked film...must have to the collection for sure..
does it top BiTS II ????? hmmmm tuff call, but i dont think so...

wow I am proud that our little project can hold up to the big guns.
I have to say this though. RTTH hills was great, but some peeps just don't realize that it wasn't that great. It has as many flaws as any project out there. We all know Jorli is talented, but he was never a MTB rider, and only made one project. We all hope he makes another one, but until then lets focus our love towards those that are still "pushing" the sport.
I believe that alot of the vids released in the last couple years "do" stand up against RTTH. Sorry Jorli.........

Me too, RTTH was an amazing video but i dont think it was way better then any other video. I like BITS2 just as much, maybe more. The thing i didnt like about it was all the music changes. It was a sweet video and i am glad i bought it 3 years ago. it was deffinatly ahead of its time:thepimp:

So you really have no frame of reference, eh?
Anyhoo, the movie ruled, despite starting 1:20 late. The shitty draft beer made me stink(ier). It's about time that someone came out with a movie to take the place of RTTH, now we can have debates about which is better! I really enjoyed the flick, I would deffinetly buy this movie. Top shelf. My only beef is that it contains all of the same riders I have been watching since 2000, with a few exceptions.
Goddamn does the sound suck ass in Dick's on Dick's.
P.S. nice to see everyone that I hadn't seen in a while and won't see for a while :)
P.P.S. Why is this thread called Ride to the hills when it's clearly about the Collective:???:

yep, the riding is still considered big today, huge back then. i dont know what it is about that movie but the editing and the music is what makes it one of the best IMO. i bought BITS2 the other day, nice to get away from the NWD huck your meat and bang your head to the music while the riders each pretend they are more core and land flatter than the others. still no RTTH thought, but i enjoyed it. props boys

I dunno, everyone always says how good RTTH was, It's good....but for some reason it just does not turn my crank. I can't wait to see bits2 and the collective...I like more soul in a movie, something that is not all...look how big i can huck.....get to know the riders....a movie that looks like it was fun to shoot. I dunno, just how I feel.

That's a worthy question.

I can remember the day when I first saw RTTH. i was dazed for a couple of days and just wanted 2 fly, which i still do :D, and wow...some of the best stuff ever.
I mean, hey, the outro is beautiful and the double in the rockies (whistler i suppose) with swade swearing ONLY a xc-bucket...hmm. sick stuff. well, no vid except for some scenes from nsx 5 and 6, come close 2 it - so i gotta wait for my package with nsx7 and the collective...

Am I the only one that questions the inclusion of April Wine in RTTH? Don't get me wrong, it still beats the lame "pop/punk" that's been creeping into most MTB movies.
Sorry, gotta go, the eighties just called, they found my Aldo Nova t-shirt.

I really like both Shift and RTTH but I think my fave from that era is Kranked 3.
I have a copy of RTTH still shrink wrapped.
I have been talking to Jorli about getting them both on DVD together. I think it's slowly sinking in. Fingers crossed.

RTTH & Shift on the same DVD...............AWESOME!
That April Wine song is SO cool...the music REALLY fits to the kind of biking IMO.
But the best part is the outro starting off with that huge 700 or whatever a snowboarder kicks off a lip and the beat starts with the guy coming too short, exactly in the moment he hits the lip. nice editing.
As with hardcore;) you are hardcore when you do not have to prove anything to anybody. :D
Most people nowadays are too much concerned about the way they look or the impression tehy make with the clothing etc.
In the end, it is just about riding a bike....let's keep it that way folks.

RTTH is one of the best films I've seen. Great music and creative editing. I would like to see a sequel to it for sure. I have yet to see the collective, so I can't compare but it sounds sick as well.

Is there egg on my face? I had no idea there were so many April Wine fans on the board. As an extension of the olive branch, here's a link to help you plan your summer. http://www.pollstar.com/tour/searchall.pl?By=Artist&Content=april%2Bwine&StartSearch.x=31&StartSearch.y=18
And take pics will you, I won't be able to make any of these shows.

ah the concept of the shift RTTH hills DVD is lovely but he will run into the same issues that have prevented his films from reaching their full potential....
before I say this I will make it be known that we are guilty of the same monster but I will say it just the same.......
he poached all the music in both vids from Motley Crue to the Crystal Method.................If I am wrong then please set me straight.
Not a recipe for long term success. ALso very easy to draw in your viewer when they know the tune.....that's why the car companies all use oldies rock tunes.............Mazda with the Who come on its a no brainer.....
so who's better the one that grab your attention with a classic tune or the guy that grabs with an unknown selection, I say selection because it is very easy to slam someones music choices but much harder to make the real call.

I can remember seeing K4 the first time....the fake boxing btw Brad and his evil twin. then "boom"....suddenly a change of mood, danger runnning through the woods, building stuff, nice music. grabbed my attention and "boom" again, the song goes off. rad riding that was really beautifully filmed and edited.
still one of my favorite scenes ever.

one of the best scenes ever from a MTB movie is the shore section ine K3, the music does it all with the fast motion building of that huge drop.

I am a huge fan of RTTH, but I think the Collective is my new favourite. It's just like RTTH, but updated to today's limits.
