ok so here's the deal; i'm thinking about getting off of the 4x4 and getting into a bigger bike so i found a guy with an x-vert carbon fork who is willing to trade me for my 02 DJI + a little bit of money as well. my perdicament however, is that a 7" fork would probably feel pretty poopy on a 4" travel frame. i do like my bikes raked out though so i'm thinking if i put a 26" rear wheel back on it might help even things up for the time being until i can find a new frame? advice/opinons would be great. thanks

ok sweet, i know people who have or are running boxxers so yeah i guess i'll go for it unless anyone has some terrible views on the x-vert?
i would say dont do it, i had a 2002 fluid and when i broke my dj1 i got it fixed and sold it and bought a 2003 jrt, and the bike rode like shit i thought. Also like 4 months later a had some cracks in the head tube and i got a new shore frame. The bike will ride weird with a 7 in the front and 4 in the back, becaseu the back will be stiffer and prob bottom out easier. I would say if ur going to get a 7 inch fork, get a bike with 7 inches in the rear
just ride

I liked my 24/26 with a dc fork on my 4by .. was a nice setup..
boxxer up front.. felt good..
the x-vert would be nice.
I used to run a 7" fork on the front of my 02 4x4, and it wasn't too bad. I ran dual 26". Absolutely fine for a temporary solution.
ummm u are aware of the lack of maintainence parts for the Xvert carbon rigth ???
dont be surprized when u need to get service kits of spare parts u cant find any...
my Xvert carbon died due to that exact problem last season... and by now im sure the remaining parts invnetory is even smaller...
but while it lasted it was the best fork i ever owned...:thepimp:
i have a 4by with a 6" boxxer race and a 24" rear wheel. and it's not that slack at all. it should be very nice with the carbon and a 24" rear.
