All I can say is I love my 03 Super T to death. Seriously...

well Im going to have to call somebody because honestly i dont have enough input first hand to know, I am just pro marzocchi...I know the manitous are popular right now. I guess I need to save up a spare g or 2 and check them out 1 day.

Manitou will always rock Marz. Good choice on the fork man.

Oh for the love of all that is holy. IF I could fit the sherman slider+ onto the Devinci I would be doing it in a heart beat. But as it is, I will have an '03 SuperT, and I'll be happy. If Manitou makes a Slider for tall HT's then I'll be all over it!!:thepimp:

2 yrs!!
I havent used a manitou since they were single crown w/ little plastic bumpers.
I liked them way back then.I just really like the low maitenance of my monsters.
But I will need to be testing them out 1 day & see what all the fuss is about.

I briefly had the opportunity to ride around on basically the same bike as my own, except it had a Sherman ('04 Flick, I think) instead of my '03 Z1 FR. It's difficult to compare since I only got to take it for a spin around the block and didn't fiddle with the adjustments on the Sherman, but I liked the feel of the Z1 better.
The Z1 felt more responsive; the Sherman's stroke definitely felt more progressive, but it didn't feel all that "lively". It may have been that the rebound was turned down, but the Sherman felt a little dead.
I'd love to get some more time riding a Sherman to see how it stacks up against the Z1. It's hard to believe the hype of the Shermans when half of the people saying that they're better than Marzocchi forks rode Dirt Jumpers before getting a Sherman...

Past few years? They first came out last year.
There's a lot of Marzocchi forks out there, so the odds of hearing about ones that are broken are MUCH higher than a Sherman.
I've not heard about a lot of externally broken Sherman forks, but I have heard a lot about Shermans with broken internals.
Marzocchi will get the externals right, Manitou will get the internals right, and all us consumers will be happy.

I love my 03 monsters. Yes they are heavy, but after riding them for 8 months they dont seem too bad anymore. i took my 4x out w the boxxers last wknd and it was so light , when I did this little launch I pulled up so hard I almost landed on my ass.

i dont see how the sherman with the tall crown could not fit a devinci try setting the lower crown a couple milimeters below teh lowest reccomended hight and put the top crown as high as it goes or intill the slanted part clears the big ass headtube i use a regular crown with a 7" stack hight i just had to drop the lower crown a bit to find out how low u can go take out the spring and compress

Oh sure, theyll fit, but the crowns hit the headtube (1.5"), so you get like +-15degrees of Turning Radius. Theres lots of bikes that cant handle shermans, their crowns just arent compatible.

The sherman preforms better and is stronger, but the internals are more work to maintain IMO. But, Id rather break somthing internally then have the externals snap in half:lol:.
Unless things change, Manitou is going to be huge in the upcoming years on DH bikes.

Congrats on the new fork! I've only had one ride on mine, but it feels pretty sweet. Can't wait until I get it dialed in.
On the whole Marz/Manitou thing, I think it's going to be good for all of us to have those 2 companies pushing each other. Marz will see how popular the Slider is this year & have an answer for it. Plus, Fox is throwing their hat in the ring. The future looks good, my friends. :D
PS Anyone else have trouble fitting a 16mm ratchet bit onto the air volume adjust? Is my ratchet set just oversize or something, cuz there's not enough clearance around it.

I like my 6 inch slider on my morphine. I find marz. heavier but not nessasaraly weaker. The reason you see so many broke Marz. is because they are so much more popular than manitou. Before i had a 2001 Z5 4" and it was a good fork. But the sherman is still the best. IMO of course.

A socket that comes in a standard socket set will have too thick of a wall. You need a special thin walled socket.

Crap. Can I get one at a hardware store? I noticed a Manitou part #, are they scamming me?
Thanks.

There's no way I could pass up another 02 monster. Just a lightweight beefcake by todays monster standards. 00 was nice to because it had rebound n compression.

endo king i had the same problem u need this: http://www.answerproducts.com/items.asp?deptid=30&itemid=111 see how thin the walls are also the lines on the side show u how manny turns u are in. also i lowered my spv pressure by about 5-10 from my regular and it dosn't bob at all but its way more sensitive but i could blow through the travel twice as fast gawd DAMN i need that thinwall adjuster:mad: anyone know where to get one no place seems to carry them
