ok i noticed this rubbing sound and feeling when i'm pedaling. it happens at two places in the pedal rotation, at opposite points of the circle. when i invert the bike and turn the pedals by hand it's clearly friction. i have haro fusion 3-piece cranks. does that sound like i've bent the axle? or could it be a bearing issue? anyone have any ideas?

MTB, or BMX? Single speed?

It may be chain tensioning cuz your front Cog may be ovalish, if its an SS bike...

oh wait maybe, cause i just removed and replaced the rear wheel and it's been like that since then. also just found my front cog was loose from the cranks too and retightened that. yeah bmx and ss. so what do i do to fix it?

nah thinking about it it ain't that. the chain's not tight and there's no reason for the chainline to have gone out of whack

then it's your BB.

as for it being bent or not, i have no idea.

still, if i couldn't "see" the bend, i'd just say "fuck it" and ride it anyway.

won't kill anyone

The chain doesn't really have to be too tight to make you feel it... If it's tighter than normal at the parts where your cranks are sticking then it's that.

If you bent your BB spindle, your cranks would be rubbing (or close to) your chainstay...

this is pretty true. see if the chain tensions up anywhere in the rotation.

really, i like my chain to be pretty slack. helps the cranks to spin and more important, allows the chain to bend around ledges when sprocket grinding.

hah! no bend! when i changed tires recently i accidentally tightened the chain-tug with it slightly rubbing the hub and that was causing the friction. rubbing in one place on the hub which is why it felt like two at the bb.
