View Full Version : Sherman Slider + vs. Super T... again...

Okay, I hate to re-hash this old argument, but I'm buying a Bullit & I can't decide which of these 2 forks to put on it. 5' is the biggest drop I've ever done & the A-Line drop is about as big as I think I'll ever go, so nothing too major. I just want something that will soak up the bumps & handle the drops I do with no complaints.
I rode a Super T at Whistler on Tuesday & it felt really good, but I've never ridden a Slider. Is there much difference?
I'm not a big maintenance guy either, so that's a factor as I know most Marz forks will run virtually miantenance-free. How's the Slider for that?
Plus, my LBS told me that Manitou wasn't nearly as good for warrantee as Marz, which is another consideration. Any experiences anyone could share?
Thanks in advance for any input. It's a lot of $$ to shell out & I just want as much info as I can get before I make a decision.
Matt
i've had both and i still own the Manitou Slider...
i dont know where your shop getes their info, but its totally incorrect...
Manitou def. looks after its customers when it comes to any problems with the new Sherman line...
i'm prolly at almost a full year on my Slider.. no service required yet...still runs as smooth as the day i got it, adn never leaks...
cant ask for more then that...
p.s. i think you'll find the Super-T is a taller fork if that matters to you...

I wouldnt say that either companys service is better than anothers, but I would definatley say that manitou offers faster service and cheaper replacement parts.
When I got my dorado, one of the screws holding the stantion gaurds was missing. I called up manitou, and thye said theyd send me one if they found one. 2 (yes 2) days later I got a parcel in the mail with a screw in it.
Go for the Slider if you want the Tire clearance, or go with the super if you have along headtube...

IFO: The shop has just had better experiences with Marz, I think.
How much taller? Will it make a big diff to the head angle? Having owned both, do you notice it?
If that $699 is for an '04, then that's a sweet price, but I'm buying a complete bike.

I had an 03 Super T and I ride a 04 Slider now. One thing is if the slider will fit on the Bullit. Doesn't the Bullit have a long headtube? I think IFO will know the answer

It must fit, it's one of the options on the SC website.

They are both nice forks. The Slider is shorter than the Super T and has a real thru axle. For a Bullit you want the drop crown (large). You should be happy with either one. Make your choice on what it the best fit geometry wise for your riding style.

I have a 03 slider on a ht and I LOVE it.. the whole TPC+ really works well.. and I whent from a 01 Jr t to this slider.. BIG CHANGE so plush!
If you end up getting a Slider make sure you get the large version.
As for the forks, their both very good forks. It's just personal preference. The Sliders are very plush and smooth, but I'm worried about reliability. As for the Super T, just keep in mind that you have limited tire size.
............ just my two cents :D

I run the 04 slider and had a leak right off, called manitou and got it fixed no problem. Simple fix, just a matter of tightening a bolt. I was in the same position about 3 months ago "super t or slider" I chose slider and no complaints..... i run an avvy in the back and sometimes it feels better to land on the front tire. :P

Im in the same position (or will be eventually).
Define "long" head tube, will a slider fit a 5.51" HT?

Go for the slider. Im riding a Slider Plus, and im loving every minute. Performance wise, both are roughly the same, but for service etc for with Manitou.
the slider plus is awsome with the spv you get the same technology found in 5th elements in your front fork, eliminates all unwanted bob,i work in a bike shop and would choose the manitou hands down over a super t and the 888 as for warrentie outdoor gear canada does a good job of customer service and warrenty. there was an error in the manitou owners manual about stack heights so alot of bikes are now fitted with the wrong upper crown/steertube length, which could cause the reverse arch to hit the crown when the fork bottoms out, generally all bikes should use the drop crown or long version of the fork.

I got 04 sliders on my bullit with a slight drop crown, and fits fine (frame size med).
I would definately take the slider over the super t anyday of the week. (period)

Oh btw, Manitou rox with warentee so far with me! My friend broke his 888 and marz made him pay for parts, even though he bought it like a week earlier.
Also, my fork did leak from the rebound know, but u have to tighten the 8mm hallow screw or w/e but not too much, now it works fine and feels great. The super t is plush and all, but the slider has so much more adjustment for when you can adjust progression, and it does feel bottomless.

Well, I'm gonna wander over a couple blocks to BSP & take a Giant AC-1 out for a spin. They come with a Slider+, so riding it around & down & off a few flights of stairs otta give me a decent idea of how the fork feels. :D
This fork is going on a M Bullit. Could someone give me a clear idea of how it fits? There was a lot of talk about long versions & drop crowns that I didn't really understand earlier (I've never owned a DC fork before).
Also, at around 170 lbs. do I need stiffer springs or should the stock springs be okay? As I said before, I'm no big hucker.
Thanks all.

Okay, the ride on the Slider settled it. SPV is nice. There was way too much bob when riding the Super T.
Ordered my bike. Should have it in a couple days. :D
Hopefully, Monday so I can ride it in Whistler Tuesday.
Thanks again for the input everyone.
