I"m pretty sure those trails are in the valley, not on the lift accessed mountain.
last time i was up in whistler i saw a little thing about local riding on the local TV channel,i think they featured both of those trails amongst others...looked like alot of fun.

I think it's an overall celebration of mountain biking in Whistler, not just the bike park. You're right, those trails are not on the hill. I know the log on A River Runs Through It washed out & has been repaired, so I think people are just excited it's up & rideable again.

Unless, of course, I know nothing & there are trails with the same names on the Garbanzo expansion, but I doubt they'd do that.

They are both trails in the Valley - not in the bikepark

Bikeshops have free maps. River is clearly marked. Bring some knee and leg pads even though its a flat trail.

I did Comfortably Numb late last September I think. We started late and it took us close to 5 hours to do. That's starting from my buddies house near Lorimer road, up the valley to the Wedge parking lot where one end of the trail starts. It ended up just above Lost Lake and we got home just as it got dark. L o n g climb but totally rideable and only granny gear for short sections. The decent is long too of course with some pretty technical spots but no structures to speak of other than a few ramp transitions.

It's awesome!

C'mon Lee. It's hardly worth a helmut. Me and dirty bike did it last year on our DH bikes and our caps on backwards - and rode it both ways at that.

I rode it without leg armor and beat the crap out of my shins on flats so I have bad memories of that. Hey - we're riding Squish on Monday - want to be pushed up ring creek FSR again?

What you have in mind? I only have my HT until I find a replacement front Hayes lever body.

Yo Lee. Nice picture. That's not actually comfortably numb. That's a section of the north secret trail called the magic carpet ride. Not far past that the trail splits. The left fork is comfortably numb and continues on for about, well, a lot further and becomes foreplay which comes out at lost lake, and it's long with some decent climbs. The right fork is called young lust or something and returns you to the gravel pit and then back to the wedgemt parking lot.

It's a cross country trail more or less, and one of the longest in the valley.

In other news. Wade isn't stupid. I do not profess to know him personally or have ever spoken with him other than on work related things. I do know that he is a well rounded rider who doesn't always ride in the park. I have seen him at Spruce lake and on other epic, cross country flavoured rides (sorry Wade, cat's outta the bag). If he is mistaken about these trails, I'm sure he'll figure it out when he rides them. Comfortably numb was just completed late last summer.

My bad - i thought Chris called the whole trail Comfortably Numb - or Uncomfortable bum as the case may be. I know he does call different sections different names. So I guess its North Secret until the bridge crossing then it splits into young lust and then Comfortably Numb.

Thrill me, Kill me is awesome. Couple years ago we went from river runs through to thrill me, it was a challenging and fun.
