its in mission and its a nasty hike up.
you can hike up the trail itself or you can find where the road is that they use to shuttle people up during the race. its a ways from the bottom of the trail so be prepared for a ride/walk after the trail.
its a fun trail though.
It's not actually that bad of a hike up. Only about 45 minutes, and if you've never been on it you get a chance to check things out. It takes about as long to push up and ride down as it does to park at the Mill Pond and ride around the back way and down. About an hour total for both, give or take, I think.
If you ride up the back road up during the week be careful, they're road building and/or logging out there during the week. The gate is locked most of the time except for the race weekend.

Did FIVE runs on Friday. The course is in fine shape. Extremely fast and grippy right now. Two or three little mud holes, but nothing major. It should be in prime condition on race day.

I did 3 and a half (four and a half?). I lost count after spending a while at the stepdown. Maybe all that added up to another one...:P Good times. Which one were you? You must've been riding with the other smaller group, I knew everyone in ours.

I remember the jersey, you guys passed me when I was on my way back up to the jumps again - you didn't seem THAT slow. I'm always the slowest in our group. It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it! :P

Cardio. Some people go to the gym and use stairclimbers, I haul my bike up the sides of mountains.
It isn't a bad climb up, there's a couple of shortcuts if you're hiking up, and you can ride up parts of it. Also you don't go all the way out to the Mill Pond at the end of each run, that would just be silly. Turn around at the little jump before the finish, or at the rock drop and go back up.
The only time the district feels it's ok for people to shuttle Bear is during the race weekend.:)

I have five bikes. I hire Sherpa's to help me take them up the first time, then after every run I sprint to the top and pick up another bike. I am SUPER fit. Seriously.

I saw it with my own eyes...going back up the hill he leapt the table top in a single bound and cleared the doubles above the stepdown without blinking an eye. It was amazing. Kudos, TheRob, that workout is epic, and has to be seen to be believed.
P.S. - I'll have to try the Sherpas instead of hiking up next time. Are they a local company?

TheRob! What's wrong with you? The sherpa thing was such a well kept secret until now. You blew their cover. I just hope no-one finds their hollowed-out stump house just up hill from the rock drop. They'd like to keep that a secret.
Bear tommorrow 5 pm.
