Both are the same price, but the giant has a better component spec. (IMO) so which would you choose for riding everything (shore, whistler, jumps)? (the RMX is the base-level one, w/ the junior t)

also, does anyone know the size of the rear hub on the giant? I know it's a 12mm axle but is it 135 or 150mm wide?

I just bought a Giant DH Comp a month or so ago. I LOVE this bike. I have a Banshee Scream with Shivers just sittin' around. I thought this was the pimp daddy of bikes, but until I rode a Giant, I thought this was it for bikes. With the Giant having the 6-way swinger and the Sherman Slider+ forks and dialed in properly it will KILL the Scream tank. Feels so light, I haven't had the Scream out even once:eek: Don't get me wrong, the Scream is an awesome bike, and totally different than the DH Comp. depends on what you like to ride. I prefer Cypress, Platinum, type of riding(FAST). Having NEVER ridden an RMX, I cannot compare. I just think the Giant is :thepimp:

yeah, well I am looking at both. the RMX seems rad, but for the price the DH Comp seems to have wwwaaaayyy better suspension (swinger 6 way and spv slider+ compared to fox rc and junior t). I think the RMX wins in all the other catagories though

I hear those new Devincis are pretty nice...

yeah, that's still the plan, I was just looking at both at cove and it seems like the giant is a lot more bike for the money but the RMX has that cool hand-built jazz, so I was just wondering what people think about the two :)

The suspension for the Giant is freakin' amazing!! You can change settings in sec(more air etc) for different types of riding. I don't beleive the RC/Junior T combo even comes close to the Slider+/6-way swinger combo;) Personally I don't think you can go wrong with either bike. By experience though, I would NOT trade my Giant for ANYTHING right now. It's been that good:D The ONLY thing I'm not 100% satisfied with though is the stock chain guide. (somewhat noisy, and kinda hits over some logs!) Never been a problem though. I like the fact that it comes with a 42 tooth chain ring(makes climbing difficult at times, but the down is ridiculously fast:cool: )

Dunno, sounds like a handbuilt frame with a giant spec is the best of both worlds...;)

Honestly, when you parents go away this summer, sell both cars, then buy yourself the $8500 DH team, and a small apartment in pemberton....

haha if I sold both my parents cars and my older bros car I could MAYBE bring in a good 3000$$:P haha yeah I was in shock when I saw the sticker price on that DH Team:eek:

Giant DH no question....

while the RMX is a nice bike, i'd own the Giant without ever needing to test-ride the RMX..

no matter how u build the RMX it'll never be as pimp a ride as the Giant DH built the same way...

No, I'd say that a frame made in the most advanced aluminum factory in the world that turns out the two most technologically advanced frame lines while keeping to decent prices witn a giant spec on it would be best.

Well my two bits says....

Giant DH Comp. I feel that it is the best bike for pretty much any type of riding, barring major hucks and such. On the asthetic (looks) side. I'd still rate the Giant as top dog. It just plain looks good. Nuff said.

well im teetering between the rmx and the demo 9, personally out of your two choices, rmx. rocky is a better company and a lil inside info on giant, their ac seires is a rip off on specialized set up, they got introuble for that!

Apples and oranges man.

You are comparing a DH race bike with a dedicated free ride bike.

Compare the angles of the two bikes if you don't get what I mean.

Agree with it or not, a DH Race bike is NOT the best bike for "all around riding"/ Yes, it will work, but it isn't the best tool for the trade.

Buy the bike that best suits the majority of the riding you do.

I've ridden both (own the Giant w/ Dorado) and don't think that they are that far apart. Maybe they are on paper, but the feel of the bikes isn't *that* different (at least the ones that I rode that were set up similar). 80% of the time I would be happy with either. The Giant, with it's shortish wheel base is pretty easy to manouver, but it doesn't have the greatest ground clearance. It also feels a little lower. The RMX has pretty long chainstays that make the front end feel heavy, but probably makes the bike stable. Once the bike is wound up to speed, it steers pretty light. I also like the way the Giant pedals compared to the RM. All that said, I wouldn't touch the RMX if it came with a Fox and Jr. T. It's no comparison to the Manitou equipped bike.

get the giant, and if you change your mind you can always swap the frame. The SPV parts alone make it worth it to get the DH Comp.

exactly, you get much better parts for a mcuh lower price

i think its almost $500 cheaper, you get better wheels, fork, and shock.
