View Full Version : Marzocchi quality going downhill?

So I just got my forks back from Norco, they went in with a crack arch and came back 04 Super-t's :) Problem is, I immediately had to replace all th escrews on the crown because the heads were stripped and over torqued  and, I could also replace them with black screws (which looks way cooler on a black crown).
An even bigger problem though, is the steerer, which hasn't been in straight, and even more annoying has scratched the underside of the crown when it was pressed in. It's about 1.5-2 degrees out, so if I put the top plate lined up with the steerer and a stanchion, the other stanchion is about 8-9mm out!
Anyone else have any problems?

Something sounds off. Bring it in.

Trust me, it's so in, they might have a hard time getting it out ;)

Yeah, my buddy's 04 super just came in and got sent right back out to Marz w/ a bent steerer. I thought it was prolly a fluke thing til now!

Mine isn't bent, it's just pressed in crooked. It's the oddest thing I have seen in a while....

could be but the box wasn't crunched or anything. I have a '03 jr and a '04 z1 freeride and love em both so i'd be the last one to poo-poo marz if i hadn't seen it myself.

if the top crown still goes on its supposed to be like that.... ive never looked at the angle on mine...but it works like a charm

An angle on the steerer would be fine if the top crown fit, which it didn't. This is apparently happening on others too. It's off to Norco tomorrow to be pressed again. I would have done it myself, but why take the risk. What's annoying is that my LBS has to take it in themselves. Marzocchi, through Norco, isn't volunteering to pick up the freight charges (it is local). I think that's not too fair.

The top crown wouldn't even line up to drop over on my buddies. Worked fine when I put my Jr on my rig but the faulty super just wouldn't fit.

They won't pick up freight charges until they can determine whether or not is actually is a defect or not.
Freight is minimal anyway. You live in Port Moody....it's a 5 minute drive.

I know it's not an issue. I just have a hard time with product that is shipped defective when it is so quick and easy to test it's alright. The stripped over torqued screws in the crown are even more alarming. When I get the fork back, I will do a total overhaul, because I now don't trust how the fork was assembled.
