I am visiting Vancouver on May 7th and 8th, from Denver. I would like advice on a place to rent a bike and a few "must ride" trails. I am currently riding a Santa Cruz Blur, and would love to be able to rent full-suspension, but will "shutup and ride" if a hardtail is all there is to be had. I would be looking for a cross country trail, approximately 4 hours long, with less than 1500 feet of elevation gain.

simon is one of the biggest assholes out there. I would never buy from him. (But he does have some good deals)

Cove is where to go, as for XC riding. Head on down to squamish, you can ride your life away down there.

As far as the Shore goes, I can't think of any well-known XC trails that log in at 4 hours. If there is, I'd sure like to know about them. However, Lee or Ned might know of some less known trails that can be accessed from the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (LSCR).

Squamish might be a better bet if you are looking at long XC rides.

Go to Squamish or the SUnshine Coast (Gibsons) to satisfy your XC diet.

If you want a long XC ride, there is Comfortably Numb in Whistler, if you really want to kill yourself you can try riding the Baden Powell from Deep Cove to Cypress (or in reverse)...if your into punishment it might be an interesting attempt.

PS. I'm sure that west point cycles also rents DH bikes...

"When you go on vacation, don't expect things to be just like they are at home. That's why it's called a vacation"

Rent a heavy bike, put on the shin pads and the flat pedals, and experience the North Shore. It's not what you are used to, but it's worth the trip.

listen to the smokie one he knows the score. I mean would you go to Moab and not ride any rock, go to Mexico and not drink beer on the beach:D The shore is something every biker should experience at least once, like riding slickrock it's just a one a one of a kind.

If you are really set on xc singletrack try burke mountain in coquitlam. You can put together a series of loops that will give you some great riding. Its only 40 min from vancouver and is moderately technical singletrack. P.M or email me and I can give you directions... maybe even hook up for a ride if the timing works.
