either get a psylo or a fox r or rlc
fox r would be perfect IMO, light and they feel like awsome :)
maybe a shiver sc?? cant they get set to 80mm ?

Lots of people seem to like Manitou Blacks for similar purposes, although I don't know the weights or the travel on them.

I'd take a look at the 80mm Shermans for DJ'ing. Not sure if they're available yet.
As for the Blacks. Tried a few and I'd like them. Easy adjustments, good seals, stiff. I had a big riding buddy who originally had one on his Switch and he abused that thing so well but it stood up to it.

thanks for your imput. i didn't think about a fox fork at all. i will likely buy the VANILLA 125RL FORK.seems to have a ton of options.
i guess i could always spend an extra $40 for the 125rlc

I would run the sherman dj, but if it is too much fork for you go for the fox.
FOX...
or Sherman DJ'r (if u can wait for it).....
hope that helps...
p.s. another choice to consider is a Pyslo...just run the fork reduced to 3" of travel... it'll be very stiff...

fox or sherman...best two small travel forks IMo and they would be so sick on a scratch:love:

if you do get the fox, get either the r or the rlc, the rl is kinda useless... unless your gonna use the lockout.. :???:
what they need is an rc. :)
a sherman would be ok i guess, but they arnt exactly light

That's a pretty sweet deal for the Firefly... if I had that choice when I got my bike I probably would have picked it over the Z1 FR.
As for fork suggestions, the Fox Forx seem to be really popular with all sorts of riders from XC, DJ, and urban. I thought you wanted an 80mm fork, though; why get the Vanilla 125?

I have a BRAND NEW, NEVER ridden 100mm Judy 4sale.
Cromo steerer and stanchions.....beefy little forks:cool: From my research...I understand they just need a stiffer spring and then play with the oil weight/height:)....external preload and rebound adjustable....
How about $100us?:)

I got a Psylo XC from you guys, but that Firefly deal is good too, is it 03 or 04?

i thought the fox could be internally adjusted to 80mm of travel?

that is a great offer . thanks:)
i would jump on it but i have no experience what so ever working on suspension forks. i had a norco 250 cc last year and never worked on the fork.before that i rode bmx for well over 20 years.
i should learn to do fork rebuilds sooner or later but right now i just want to put a fork on and get riding :)

You're right. I stand corrected. The Fox will probably fit you better since it is still rideable in its reduced travel mode, whereas the Shermans are known to break when ridden hard with the shortened travel.

this is a really stupid question so please bare with me
when the a fork is set in it's 80mm setting does it still sit all the time at the 125mm height but just compress down to 80mm?
or does it actually sit at 80mm all the time?
asking this for all forks psylo,fox,etc..
basically i just want the front end low even when sitting still.
hope my question make some sense?

The fork will be compressed when it is in the reduced travel mode; this is true for almost every fork with adjustable travel.
The only exception is Marzocchi's ETA forks. Although it's not really reduced travel, since it's basically a lockout with 30mm of stiff travel with no rebound damping, it can be activated at different heights. The ETA feature isn't meant for all types of riding, however. It's shouldn't be used for hard riding, like urban.

thanks for the help:)
that is basically what i was hoping to hear.
i just wanted an 80mm fork. want my mtb to be low like my bmx bikes were.
the fox vanilla seems to be a good deal.the options are there and the weight is under 6lbs.
thanks again
josh :D
The Vanillas are internally adjustable coil, a solid system that doesnt break. Good choice.
