i did a j-hop on my 04 vps six, and the top portion of the triangle (which would be called the seat stay i guess but its not really one).. just snapped... in the middle of the weld where it meets the dropout on the non drive side
just wondering if this happens to alot of people? and if so, how long did the warrenty take?

Rest assured a J-Hop didn't break it...It had to have been weakened from something else and it was the straw that broke the camels back.
Either way, it shouldn't break. You are under warranty, so bring it back and you will be taken care of.
The questions you are asking would get more accurate answers from your shop.

True. I've heard nothing but good things about their warranties.
used to happen a lot in 2001.. then they changed their chainstays
NorcoFury, since the VPS design is licensed from specialized (same as their FSR), I wonder if it has something to do with the design. Have a look at my thread here:

Brake jack?
Does the weld look beefy or does it look like it wasnt done properly..
I saw an 04 Brodie in the shop the other day with the exact same problem, but there was no support welded in on that one...
Compare it to a RT with a VPS in your shop, see if they missed some structural component (as was the case with this brodie).
Ill inspect my six's rear T tonight..

Thoughtless comments like this do not belong on the gear board.
It offers nothing.
If it is too hard for you to actually use your brain to come up with a response, please do everyone a favour and stop posting.
Criticism is great, but worthless without anything behind it.

Hey, no big deal.
Doesn't matter what you ride!
You know your stuff and you know it well. You can contribute a lot on the gear board, more so than alot of other people. Use some of those bike smarts to help people out!
Cheers,
Corey

^ bah corey doesnt ban ppl as much as others..:P
i think your stays are defects, even my old 01-02 vps( proned to snapping) didnt break at seatstays!:o but 8" rear hydro do put some load on those stays sometimes...
norco is great for replacement, just be original owner and they'll give you in a week.
