I am looking for a cheap chain tensioner that works with a vertical dropout bike that I am converting to a single speed. (I would like to buy off the internet.)
How does the KORE Reactor work?
Also, why is the surly singleator so damn expensive?
I can find many derallures less in price than the surly. RIP OFF...
I am also open to instructions on how to build my own tensioner.

Axiom (Norco) makes one called the No-Railleur for about $40 CDN.

Those are too damn expensive. I can find an XT derailer for less than those chain tensioners on the internet. Does anyone understand my situation? I AM ON A BUDGET. Less than $30 please. What make the surly so expensive? It is less complex than an XT derailer but it still manages to F*^%ing expensive!
How would I modify a rear derailer without sacrificing wieght? I cant just slap on a derailer, its too heavy. So what do I do?

if you do a search there was a thread a while ago about this... i have the same problem. i think there were a couple of guys selling used ones. :) someone had suggested using a half chain link with no tensioner too i think... super cheap and light.

Go on EBAY. Go to bikes, then parts and gear or something like that, then search "surly". Theres a guy selling numerous Surly copies. I just got one myself and it works great.
