Whats your thoughts on this beast? If this new series of Alu. holds up, should be interesting to see one. I just dont like the idea of "consumer discrimination" on the part of RS implying that only the best riders get to ride the sick and steep. I think there's a reason why "the best" ride that to begin with - that being the fact they have the skills to do so.

I'm hoping if a greener rider buys this fork, they'll still keeps their wits and wont think he can just hit this and that cuz they've got a foot of travel and then end up getting seriously injured.

But good on Rockshox for developing new materials to push their product line. Conversely, it'd make more sense to me to just increase the turning radius of the boxxer or have a different boxxer model with wider opposed stanchions. I personally dont need a 12" single crown. People have been giving the Breakout+ enough flack over being a 7" SC - this should make some interesting conversation hopefully.

Discuss and comment.

I'm surprised the article makes no mention of stanchion or steer tube size. Despite a new grade of aluminum, I would think that stanchions and steer tubes would need some significant girth. Personally, I think 12' of travel is too much, especially for a single crown...but I thought super monsters were dumb too, and people seem to buy them. To each his own I guess.

We'll be publishing a test on the fork in a few short weeks. Cam has been on it for about 2 weeks, and I'm supposed to mount it up on my bike this weekend to run for a bit.

Pretty slick!

You'll see. People called BS when the first Monster T came out too.

It is all about the evolution of product. If bold steps like this were never taken, we'd all be stuck riding RS QUadra 21's.

I applaud them for a bold move and what looks like a hot product.

Why cant you guys see that RS has finally stepped up to the big leagues?

I think it is great the Rock Shox is stepping up to give the Noob rider the equipment to play with the big boys. Specialized has given us the Demo9 so that the noobs can keep up with the rippers on the hard tails and now we have a good design and new metallurgical developments progressing the fork department.

I love what the future holds for bike development.

OMFG its an amazing size and girthy lookin thing....i'd just love to cruise the street with that thing on my front end, but i wouldnt be able to afford it for a few years at least though. we'll have to see how this 9000 grade aluminum holds up under the flex and also the headset/headtube

Question is, is that photochop or just the stanchions moved up in the crown? Theres a marking on one stanchion that looks like its from the top crown.

So many people have belived it:P I knew as soon as i saw the picture that it was a joke. all they did was take of the upper crown and slide the stantions down. But i applaud the boys at nsmb for pulling this off, It proves the intelligence of the forum.

I guess the "John Holmes" part wasn't enough of a hint that this was a joke. You people need to watch your pr0n.

Argh. Must you put "thedude" at the end of your posts? We KNOW you're "thedude". I know it's a small issue, but it irritates me - kind of like how Mustafa can't handle being asked the same question 3 times.
