FYI the West Van Official Community Plan will be up before Council on Monday April 7th.

http://www.westvancouver.ca/article.asp?a=3294&c=187

The section on the upper lands, which includes the mountain bike trails can be viewed here;

http://www.westvancouver.ca/upload/documents/OCP%20Web%20Documents/February%202004%20OCP/14_upper_lands.pdf

If you look at the map on Page 4 it looks like we're going to eventually loose the lower parts of the trails below the 3rd switchback.

Interested people might want to look into attending this meeting and even speaking to protect the existing trails.

that's really lame, i dont think it's right that they keep building up the mountains like this. i know that a long time ago it was much harder to get in to the mountains and now there's houses right up to the bottoms of them but I think there's a point they have to stop. and not just because of biking, but they say we create run off and pollute salmon streams....then propose to build HOUSES and ROADS all up there?

If they do the proposed area as well as the "future neighbourhoods" area I don't think there will be much of Cypress left.

P.S. what is this road that says it goes off in to the backdrop of the mountain? :???:

What's really lame is that they have probably intentionally planned it to conflict with the big North Van Alpine Rec Study which is on the same night.

The West Van fuck heads figure all the mtb'rs and outdoors people are geared up to go to Carson Graham School, and they'll get to do what they want unopposed over in West Van.

oh i understand they can do what they want. i'm just speaking from the perspective not only as a mountain biker but as someone who likes to look north and see trees....not sub-divisions.
