Hi folks, I'm a newb here. Seems to be plenty of info on here so here goes.... I have a Bighit DH with the assymetrical rear end. I put a huge flatspot in the stock wheel. 36 spoke singletrack. I ccouldn't find any decent replacement rims so I bought a 32 XT with a doubletrack built(same shit eh!) My plan was to dial it over - My question is will this require new spokes or what . The shop I bought the wheel at just looked at me kind of funny when I asked them.
thanks in advance.

hmm itll be pretty hard.

Why not pick a nice rim and hub and ask the mech to build you a dishless wheel?

You should be able to dish it over w/o getting new spokes, just keep an eye on it to make sure that there are no threads showing and you should be fine. Remember, small even increments all the way around.

It'll be fine, I've done it before. Assuming the wheel has the coerrct spoke lengths to start with most rims are double walled giving you lots of space past the head of the spoke nipple. Do it slowly as you are aiming to dish one centimeter over.

But...

If you don't know what you are doing... pay a ((I shouldn't have to say GOOD/Qualified/NOT full of wankers... but I will)) shop the $10-$15 to do it right... a properly trued wheel with proper spoke tension will be much stronger and will save you money over the long run...

If you want to learn... experiment on cheap crap wheels... not on your big dollar hoops
