Going to Whistler for the long weekend in May... wanna get lots of ridin' in. Definately time for a new bike... this XC 3" is killin' me. Its like a tinker toy on the DH, and Whistler would KILL it heh. Guess i'm looking at dropping about $3500+ on a new FR>.. so i'm thinkin':
1. Cove G-Spot
2. Norco Shore
3. Banshee Scream
4. Specialized BigHit Expert
5. Santa Cruz Bullit
Any help/advice you can give would be appreciated (and yes, i intend to 'test ride' all before making a final D)
P.S. Anyone wanna buy a rad XC bike? :D

Bullits are nice bikes. i have one, and i couldnt be happier. its awesome, holds upto me, and rides like a dream.
The scream is a lot of bike, but if you are hucking, or are just a rough rider. it might be a good choice for you.

I would definaltley look at the g-spot ..
For 3500 you could build up really any style of bike on the frame
it could be pure dh, or fr, or a more versatialle setting with something like a z150
plus the g-spot is a quality frame

It's pretty hard to go wrong these days...all good bikes. Go for the best dollar values in your own mind and the ride that feels best to you. I'd certainly add a Kona to your list. Also the Norco A-line.
You might also consider a bike from the 6" crowd aswell? RockyMountain Switch, Giant AC, Norco Six, Specialized, Kona.....happy shopping:)

all those are great bikes, i would chose the big hit or shore probably, then the buillit.
Or you could buy my orange patriot 7 that is super pimp.:D

Dont worry about getting a bike too good for you at the moment, the bike will inspire you to ride more/better and you will be glad you got it in no time.

Another question.... i'm 6'2", 200-220 lb (depending on season :P ) I'm assuming i'll want a LARGE frame (my buddies 21.5" G-Spot is too big for me, but the medium too small) so around 19". Also, what spring size is right for a person of my girth? Say on a Vanilla RC....
what brand of frame ???
bike design plays a HUGE factor...
buy my 2004 19" RM Flow for a back up hard tail! it would suit you perfect! and if you bought Nooner's bike, you'd have just enough left over to get my hardtail and have a wicked xc bike for a big guy like you! rad tubing and all!
Edit: brand new frame

1. Cove G-Spot
2. Norco Team Shore
3. Banshee Scream
4. Specialized BigHit Expert
5. Santa Cruz Bullit
yes K2, but each frame design will require a different weight of spring...
u cant just say a 500lbs spring for example adn expect it to be the right one for all those frames listed....
your gunna have to narrow it down to the exact bike u want first...

I'd look at the Rocky Switch (any model) or purchase the Cove... if those suit your riding style... ((yeah I'm big on made in Canada))
Otherwise... unless you hate 24" rear wheels BigHits are one of the best pedaling bikes out there for the weight... and the Norco Shore has one of the best part kits for the money... unless you are going HUGE I'd advoid the scream... but if you look through most any thread you'll come across a picture of Sean's beauty Charrpal... and that would be a good choice as well...

If you're doing the G-Spot, ya gotta get it with a 5th Element. A 550lb spring should do the trick there. I'm not sure that a 600 lb is even available for that shock, but if there is I'd get that. Whatever the heaviest thing available is.
If you can get into the 17.5" frame, then I've got a deal for you.

I'd say that the G-spot NEEDS the 5th element. With that BB pivot the rear end is super active.
I'd look at the Banshee Chaparral. Or the Specialized.
I ride a Bullit and although it's been really good to me I'm going to look for something that doesn't kick back through the pedals so hard on big hits and I'd like something that doesn't jack the suspension when I lay on the brakes.

I would look at Norco Shore, Specialized BigHit, or the Banshee chaparral for a more do it all bike. But really the Shaparral is at the top of my list.

i'd say the 4bar feels very dead compared to a single pivot
You should look into the Devinci Ollie or 8 flat 8, the bike offers more than most other bikes at their level and price point! canadian made doesn't hurt either, kicks tha crap out of all those bikes that you listed. :canada:
