View Full Version : Tree Rides
I always get kicked off my bike when i get to the steep part, is it just all about putting your weight way forward? I tried that and my Boxxers sort preloaded a ton and i ate it hard... any tips?

edit- the transition on my tree is way steeper, are some trees just not rideable?

i think that when you are getting almost vertical throw your weight forward so the bike goes flat again then you will roll yourfront tire downt the tree.
That is how I think you would do it
So you have to change your weight as you go up the tree, not just be all up front? I'm sure i'm going to get beat down learning this trick lol.

I'm pretty sure you're not gonna make it up the tree if it's 90 degrees to the ground ;)
Can you ride quarter pipes? How about vert walls?
Imagine the tree a quarter. Try and find a tree the has a nice root mass that turns into the trunk smoothly. Find a tree with a tranny!
Hit it just like you are hitting a quarter....hit it pretty fast, pump up it and POP!. You definitely want to be riding straight up the tree when you pop. You can air off it to fakie...like in that picture, or 180 and ride down the tree.

Theres lots of ways you can do it, i can do them, but not too well, im on a dually too though. I guess its possible on pretty much any tree, however some are much much better then others, try to find one that looks kinda like a quater pipe to learn on. you can lean forward and as you start to come down pull the back tire up and kinda just ride down it on your front, or if the transition to vertical is good, just try to ride down with both tires on the tree, you can also try hoping away from the tree and turning a 180 on the way to the ground, gotta hop hard enough to clear the tree though. well like anything just keep practising it and youl catch on, theyre not all that hard really(depending on tree, ect) youl get em. oh yeah try and find trees that have soft grass around them so if you bail it wont be landing on rocks or concrete or anything like that.
We was ridin a tree here on the campus and this hippie done come up and started hootin an hollerin! Sayin we wreaked the tree and how would we done feel if someone rode on us!
I couldnt beleive it, true story.

i had a nice experience with a tree the other week, i aired onto it from the tranny, proceeded to fall down 3ft stabbed myself in the leg, man that hurt. Specialy those damn macneil seats. but if there is a tranny just take your momentum onto it and ride up, otherwise i don't know for the kind that your talking about.
