View Full Version : Evil Bikes signs Chris Donahue
For Immediate Release:
EVIL BIKES SIGNS CHRIS DONAHUE
Canadian Street Riding Icon, Chris Donahue, signs with Evil Bikes.
Freeport, ME, USA - February 26, 2004 Evil Bikes, a New England-based bicycle
company pioneering the street/park and versatile hardtail market with innovative frame
designs, announces a two year frame sponsorship and product development agreement
with professional street and trail rider Chris Donahue.
Chris Donahue has become an icon for the sport of mountain biking over the last several
years. His laid back and friendly nature, in combination with his huge air tricks and
technical riding prowess, have won him the nickname “Donahuge” and the friendship and
respect of his peers.
Chris had this to say about his new deal:
"I'm totally fired up to be working with Evil Bikes for the next 2 years! For me, I knew it
was the best way to go. I really like the bikes, but, most importantly I like the thoughts
and view each of the owners and other team riders. I feel we're really on the same page
when it comes down to ideas and ideals for the industry as well as the immediate
company. Good things are going to happen this year!"
Dave Weagle, President and Technical Director for Evil Bikes wrote the following:
“We are really psyched to have Chris on our team and working with us. From the first
time that Chris and I talked, I knew that we had to make this happen. Chris is a great guy,
he really is the kind of person that I feel exemplifies our philosophies on riding and life.
He’s a hard worker; he’s well spoken, a great role model, a loyal friend, and can ride the
heck out of a bike! We’re all really excited to combine some of our technology with
Chris’s riding input and meld the two into an incredible product line for 2005.”
Good Job Chris! Lookin forward to seein your new project!!

Being a tad geometry obsessed, I was just wondering what Chris' thoughts are if he going for his own custom sig frame? Is it going to be steel? Any ideas on geometry?
It's nice to see top riders with rider owned companies http://bb.nsmb.com/newforum/images/icons/icon14.gif

YeeeeeeeHaaaaaaw!!
As you can see in my quote, I'm really stoked to be working with these guys! I knew right away that it was a good combination. And to be honest, I was a bit aprehensive about the Imperial as well, only because I've only seen it built up for DH with a huge fork and crazy huckin' set-up...................Until I rode it!! DAMN!
Its a 6lb frame, so my current Street ride weighs only 31 lbs! Its so easy to toss around too, because of the tight geometry. I'll be able to set it up with 26" wheels, but will have my 24's for certain things.
The Sovereign will be my next ride. Its a 5.5 lb chromoly frame, Reynolds tubing. Sick ride, I can't wait till production is complete.
There are a couple of secret projects comin' out soon too. I can't say much, but you will be pleasently surprised.
So yah, the Balfa thing didn't work out after my contract was up. Its all good, It was a great 2 years. The guys at Balfa are very nice, and they are good friends. I hope only good things happen to Balfa, even though it does not look good right now.
Here is a nice little write up on the Evil Bikes on Pinkbike, in case you are curious.

Thats about all for now. If you have any questions about Evil Bikes or E.13 components, feel free to send me a PM.
Cheers!

Hey suggestion Chris,
work on getting a bette Evil/Canadian relationship. More specificaly west coast. Cause when i ordered my E.13, it took a long time cause of backorder(that couldnt be helped) but also problems with the Yodobike, the canadian distibutor. They were also far away, and shipped me the wrong bolt pattern, but i needed new cranks anyway so didnt have to ship back
Anyway, try and get a west coast distributor running, if it is in your power.

C.D. and Evil is an awesome match...awesome:D
I'm personally a little more about the DH/Duallie's though than the HT's:lol:.....Evil workin' on any duallies? I vaguely recall something about Evil and duallies, and it was a negatory if I recall, but I don't really:lol:

Since its begining the company has grown much faster then we had anticipated, as the demand for some of our products(e13, Atomlab, GRC). In order to offer a faster response time to our clients and stay competitrive it is now paramont for us to have a west coast office.
We haven't made a choice yet but it will be Calgary or Van City.
