so i sold this kid my fork in October of last year, sold him my wheel at the same time for next to nothing, i even offered to install the fork for him so he doesnt have to pay a shop to do it. He was short $50, and he said he can pay me back in a week. So I said ok, since i know his phone# and address, so he most likely cant just run off.
It is now March and i still dont have my $50. I tried calling him before, and he would say he would have the money the following week, then after a few weeks he just hang up on me every time. ( and i didnt even call that often, maybe once every 2 weeks)
so now he messages me on msn, and complains to me i sold him a fork that leaks and the stanchions are scratched........AFTER BRAGGIN HOW HE DROPPED 12FT ON HIS SC
 so yea, thats what you get for being nice and try to get someone riding.
i told him i'll give him a new set of marz seals(since i have a spare set, thx Ross!) so he'll most likely pay
sorry, just had to say it, been wanting to for a while, we now return to normal programming

I agree with the others. He owes you $50 and you don't owe him anything. It sounds like you gave the kid a good deal in the begining and you were nice enough to give him a little extra time to pay you back the $50 so that he could get his bike together sooner so he deserves to have a leaky fork. I say get the $50 back and don't bother giving him new seals. tell him he can buy them off you if he wants... after he pays you back the $50!

I'm going through the same thing right now with someone from this BB, except it's been longer and he owes me more money then that still. The shitty thing is he's riding and i'm broke:mad: , Jon

Yeah like the others said, go to his house. He won't be quite as tough in person. And even if it sounds ghey, do talk to his mom, only because she is more likely to have the $50 then this kid.
And the forks are something that HE should have looked more into, for scratches, etc, so thats his problem not yours. Screw him and his fork, if he hasn't even finished paying you for the thing, don't start helping him out again.

yikes! that sucks  i guess you dont want to post his info...
too bad we dont have a "feedback forum" for bike transactions - i know i'd have a few comments to report, most good, but one not so good.
I am sorry to say this but it is your fault that he walked away with your fifty bucks, let this be a lesson to you as well as everyone else that you don't give up the product before getting all your cash. What insentive does the guy have to pay you? He is riding and has better thing to spend fifty bucks on.
People are way to eager to sell thier stuff that they will give the payment plan option, thats fine but just give him/her the product after ALL the money has been forked over.
Don't go to the kids mother. You made the deal with him not his mom she has nothing to do with it.
It sucks that you are without your fifty but look at it like a fifty dollar lesson. You can flame me all you want but you know I am right.
Tell him to get fucked and don't help him at all. Then, learn your lesson and be less kind in future transactions.

that sucks ron. you are too damn nice to people sometimes. take it as a lesson and next time dont let them have the item until you have the full amount in your hands.

yeah there should be a "dont do business with this person" thread. its sad especially since some of the people that are being ripped off are being ripped off by other board members. i think you should be allowed to post the persons name as long it doesnt get out of hand. it may stop someone else from getting ripped off by the same person.

Who? Post up the name. It's tiring having the odd bad apple screwing things up for everyone else.
Ronald,
Don't let him off. That's just letting an a-hole get away with something that others will do too because, as is possible in this example, THEY CAN. Take him to court if necessary. You'll win and he (or his family) will have to pay.
Don't make deals on the payment plan. It's business. No pay, no play.

Keep the seals, flip him the bird. Go for a ride - msn him and tell him how nice your new forks feel.

Geez, unless you're a tiny little guy and he's a big huge guy, there is an easy solution to this. Go to his house, when he lets you in, grab the first thing that you see that you know you could sell to recoup your money. Tell him that he can pay you by the end of the day or you'll sell the goods. Some may call this stealing, I think of it more as reposession. Alternatively, take the fork back, if he hasn't paid you for it entirely, it's yours. If it was me I'd rather see it sit in my garage then have some little brat ride it for free.

don't take any bullshit whatsoever from groms or kids because they'll grow up into big whiney assholes who always tend to get what they want.
please, for all of us, go get your money now. and the fork is technically still yours, as he did not finish payments. maybe so repo is in order. or talk to his mom, sorry, its lame, but fuck, it works! :D
