Who'd you vote for? It would be nice to see some figures as the contest progresses.

kyle, canadian, skills (not all street), i like his style

I voted for Kyle.
I thought his riding was superior. He showed good variation from street to the DJ's to Dh and showed he could huck big with style. He threw in multiple different airs into his video during his hucks which kept things interesting. His street riding was also very creative and thats overall what won my vote.
I really liked Wayne Goss's video because it showed that he was working on improving (showing crashes and then finally getting the trick down), however, his big air hucks and such did lack style as compared to the rest. He'll defiantley be a contented when he developed his stlye a little more, he looked somewhat sketchy on some DJ tricks and the street but it looks like he's pushing himself, so definate props to him.
Dave's video was more editing than anything. It really didn't seem like there was anything that impressive in there in comparision to the others, just some really nice camera angles and digital effects to add to the video, unfortuantley that can't carry him in the real hucking world. Also, his bio really turned my off from voting for him...he seemed far too high on himself and cocky. I don't think thats what an amature looking to get into the pro side of things should have for an attitude.
Finally, Jeremy's video was also superb but he lost my vote to Kyle because he showed little varition in his style in the air, it seemed like the same tweek off every air/huck and that got kind of repetative, although his all-around riding was great and his video was very well done!
Just my thoughts.
Props to all the guys on awesome videos, Lord knows that I could never ride like that, so I'm not really one to critsize anything! But that's just my take on all the vid's from that section!
Great first round....can't wait to see the other 12 vids!

For me it was between Dave, kyle and jeremy.
I am suprised to see wayne leading our pole. He had the least impressive video i thought.
Dave defenantly had the best video out of those guys and seems to be the most diverse rider. IMO.
All the voting just cause so and so is canadian or american is just retarded i think. I vote for who i think is the best rider. I voted for hunter last year cause i liked his video more than cams.
I am not a insane nationlist.
BTW please dont flame, i wont respond.

I voted Wayne, I was down to Kyle and Wayne, but I watched the vids side by side and Waynes captured my attention the most, thus getting my vote. Whoever said he has no style on drops should watch his vid again, He dead sailors one drop, manuals the tranny of one and tables another, I thought it was sick. Hopefully he wins this round.

Talk about tough decisions, especially when i haven't had coffee today. I had to vote for Wayne, because he was crushing those drops on a letoy hardtail. Those bikes are not forgiving :D And his riding is exactly where i want to go with mine. Anyone of those guys is worthy of winning though imho

Super T's vid was mostly from NS 5 which was shot almost 3 years ago. As per Tylers riding ability, I don't know too many people who go bigger and is as much as difersified.
The level of competition/rider skill has vastly improved over all the other years for sure. These 4 lads rip with great style.
I'm giving my vote to WG for having the most well rounded vid.

All videos (my oppinion, if you disseagree, great!) but Kyle's were boring, didnt hold my attention. Kind of like NWD 4, great hucks and all, but I love how much style Kyle put into his riding, he also showed a whole lot of diversity, fast, street, trail, huck, it was all there with clean style. The only othet person that would get my vote would be Wayne, the rest, meh.

03-05-2004, 03:27 PM
Wayne all the way.
He's the type I've rider I want to be...only rides a hardtail, great tech skills in the park, and can also go big in the bush. And he can hold his own in the dirt jumps too.
I'm happy to see he's in the lead, for the NSMB poll. For now, anway.

it was definately a toss up between Wayne and Kyle for me. In the end I went with Kyle because I thought he had a little more variation in his riding than Wayne, it was really close though, it still could've gone either way.

to be honest im gunna view all 4 videos again before i judge..

Wayne got my vote, can kill all styles on a hardtail plus he's my friends, friends brother. If you want to see more riding of him go get Battle of/in the North, he stomps a 25 or so foot drop on a P3 with Z-1's or somethin. Jeremy's vid sucked to me, all he did was stupid bar tweaks off everything he did. Dave was cool and his whips were so tweaked but it seemed he already has a sponsership or support so he dosn't really need to win this and Kyle was rad but didn't huck as big as Wayne

The entrants should be given more time. The videos are too short and they're mostly patches of quick clips.
Pretty tough. I had to watch a few times. They're definitely all very good. In the end, I had to go with Dave. He's really smooth at high speed, and in throwing down the tricks. Wayne's was great to watch, but his riding seems more street/dj with some cool hardtail riding. The other two riders could have done a better video as I don't think their talent was showcased well enough.
It will be interesting to see who wins. The first UFC winners seemed to favour guys who were more free-ride (trail riding) oriented than downhill or street/dj.
KillerJoe
03-05-2004, 11:59 PM
His video was the only on that made want to grab my bike and go rip it up. (Not that I really can).
This is a video judging contest. I don't just look at the rider/riding.
I would say 50% rider skill and 50% the video.
I narrowed it down to Wayne or Dave. Then I watched again and again. The video that Dave had really made me feel the speed and excitement instead of slow large drops. I'm not saying he's a better rider but the video was better and more exciting.
Try to vote for the best video instead of your cousins ex boyfiends brother.....
Keep personal politics/sponsorships/friendships out of it. I would have liked to have voted for a Canadian but just couln't after watching Dave's video.
Can't wait for next week.

Im from Prince George BC and I've ridden with Kyle before. Hes landed tailwhips before and the one gap he x-ups over is about a 20 footer with like a 8 foot step down to it. His video totally doesnt show his true skills, he rushed it way too much. Also, the bread'n'butter gap he does in Utah is on a hardtail...thats like a 20 footer as well with about 10 feet of drop. So alls I'm trying to say really is VOTE FOR KYLE!!!VOTE FOR KYLE!!!

If you're only given 30 seconds for a video, why would you waste the first few seconds on a shot of a rider pushing or picking up a bike? There wasn't enough content in the video.

don't get me wrong, all the riders are very good, and definately better than me, but the other 3 seemed to do too many dj's. at least in my opinion.
plus, kyle had flow, or at least in the portions in his vid.

I went with Gross. The competition was pretty even, but the thing that put me over the edge was that he was doing it ALL on a hradtail.
As far as I remember, the contest was strated to give new talent a chance. Dave has already been sponsored. As for the other two, they already look like they're getting some money from somehwere - the Yank has a Patriot and a 222!!, while the dude from PG has an Intense for God's sake!
It's all about potential, and Gross has the most.

Like I said, I chose based on potential. All the guys are young and will get better with more practice - not that they don't already rule.
The competition was and is gonna continue to be really close.
I see more potential in a guy who rides one bike than someone who is ALREADY riding 2 or 3 top-of-the-line bikes. That little 10 or 15% from the kit is already there, so the room for imrpovement is already that much less.

personally thats dumb, these vids are showing who is the best rider not what bikes or if they were riding their own stunts. If the person looks like they shred and got the skilsl to pay the bills then they get my vote. the aussie was riding redbulls tuff but it looked fuckin sick

Ross, you funny guy.
Nice debate on why you should pick a rider.
RF put up the contestants that they would be willing to sponsor. Whether or not the eventual winner will be riding DH on the WC/NORBA circuit, or will be appearing on "Drop In - Season III" isn't part of the selection criteria. Our job is to pick who we think is the better rider (actually it's more like who has the best video).

vote for Kyle, p33g represent:P :P
This is so fricken ridiculous. I am going to outline all the things that should have no standing in your vote:
Nationality- WTF this is the dumbest thing i've ever heard of, i mean come on you guys voted for Hunter last year cause he was from CAN and how many ads do you see him in?
Bike- Who gives a shit, and come on with this, "He's on a hardtail, hes a better rider." If thats true tell the dude to get a fs and get sponsored. And brand preferences are freaking lame.
Personal Relationship- Alright this kinda makes sense but honestly if my bro was competing i wouldn't vote for him cause he ain't good enough.
"FREERIDING ATTITUDE"- ????? um ok you guys are from the shore, give me a rough demographic of the people you see on fromme on a nice weekend day. Its all types. This is the biggest load of shit i've ever heard. If you are in the sport because of your badass freeride attitude you can just get teh hell out cause thats pretty lame.
Now things that you should consider:
Talent- Are they good?
Versitility- Can they rip it all up?
Growth Potential- Is the dude a 32 year who ain't gonna get too much better?
And lets try to keep this fair, voting more than once is kinda lame. Anyway thats just my opinion.
