I'm lookin to pickup an '04 Norco 4Hun and I obviously want to get the best deal possible, so who is the best Norco dealer in the Lower Mainland, in terms of retail pricing? My regular shop doesn't carry the Norco brand and they don't carry anything else I like, otherwise they would get my business (as usual).
Cheers

JH - price match to the lowest(30 days) if they arent already, free lifetime tuneups and lifetime warranty on the frame.

How flexible are JH on their retail pricing? I've cruised by there before and all the tags show full retail.
give Stevston Cycle a call to...

Like I said, if you find a lower price at a surrounding shop within a month you'll get the refund.

Oh man, this could stir shit again... it has before.
Basically JH is saying "Oops, we've been busted, we'll give you the same price for coming back here instead of going elsewhere"
I'm sure most shops would do the same thing for you. Heck, you might even be able to bargain them down Zellers style. "If you find a price lower than ours, we'll beat THAT price by 10%" There's really no incentive to go back to JH unless that's the shop you wanna deal with.
Of course, that's just stirring the pot. If your LBS doesn't do Norco, then a larger shop (John Henry for example) might have a larger pull with Norco on any issues you may have (warrantee).
Basically, choose a good shop that'll treat you nice, I'm sure any shop that wants your business will match to the lowest price for you.

Keefer, basically all you've told me is that you are too fucking lazy to go look for the best deal yourself. I don't see the problem with the JH deal. Your protected for a month. Free tuneups for life and a lifetime warranty on ALL frames regardless of the manufacturers warranty is a HUGE incentive to me. JH isn't worried about getting busted for price matching, its all over the website and is a well known fact. Personally I'd be asking other shops if they will match that level of service. We won't even get started on what JH does for the community.

Demo do you work for JH?
You seem like a cool guy but I find it a bit low when someone comes looking for advise on a public bb and you steer him towards your shop without letting them know you work there.
dont take it the wrong way just a comment :)

Yes I work there. Of all the things said here you find that low? Wow.
Secondly. I don't own the shop. It is of no monetary benifit to me. I just think the shop has good service. I'll refrain from commenting any longer, since it upsets so many people.

I think just the opposite.
He works there, so he can provide us with the most accurate info when we have questions (like the price match thing he just mentioned....I had no idea), and we can be pretty sure he is telling us the truth.
He isn't advertising really, he 's just pluggin what he knows best. We all do it to some degree.
:) Thats just my opinion, I'm not sayin I think you are wrong. :)
Low was a bad work my point being that I find it more forward to let the person your advising that you work at the shop.
In no way was my comments said to put you down in anyway.

No offence taken. In no way were my comments misleading or untruthful, regardless of whether I work there or not.

Of course there is an obvious bias, namely because I'm not aware if any of the other Norco dealers share the same services and guarantees. But thats what this thread is for, isn't it :D

Hey Demo9 ... thanks for all the insider info ;) So, how much do you think would be a fair price (not MSRP) if I didn't want to travel all over the city price matching?

my bud just got an A Line from Caps in Coquitlam for $2799 (regular sticker price). MSP is $3400 (JH Sticker price)
JH wouldn't price match as they didn't have a medium in stock (Price match only applies to instock items)
Excellent service at Caps (our first time there), 1 year free service also and 15% off parts.
Same quality of service as JH (ie very good), nice big shop a la JH also.

You are paid employee of the shop, so sales of the shop are of monetary benefit to you.
If JH doesn't have what you are looking for, try Steveston In Richmond or Edmond Cycles.

ok i'm a little confused about JH and pricing...
so they put full retail on their tags? but don't charge it? so then why would they give a "deal" price over the phone? most lbs' won't do any type of dealing until they see the whites of your eyes..lol
and hey, no bashing, i'm just curious

Most shops put a "retail" price on the products they sell. Some will sell for less than what is marked.
Stick with a specific shop. I always deal with Cove Bike Shop, and they always give me good pricing.
When I've gone to JH or Dizzy, they charge me the retail price on the part - probably because I'm not a regular customer. Just last week I was trying to buy a pair of gloves for my daughter, and JH had had a pair that fit her. Retail price was $50. I asked if the sales person if they could do better on the price, and they said "I'll see if we can find something that fits in brand B over there - it's only $45".
It's business, and the consumer has a choice.

Umm Edmonds Cycle is actually really cheap, norco has gotten pissed at em for undercutting shops before..
When we used to do norco at caps we would sell A-lines for $2200 will the whole tune up service, 15% off accesories blah blah blah....In other words, the margins on Norcos is HUGE. Shop around and youll find a good deal.

Demo9, I think you should read my post PROPERLY before you start bashing on me.
What I've said is that if another shop gives you a better price, why should I go back to JH to buy it? There's nothing wrong with JH's approach at all, and I actually didn't know about the lifetime tuneups and lifetime frame warrantee. You're writing me off as some "Anti-JH" guy, when I'm really not.
"JH isn't worried about getting busted for price matching" What? When did I say anything about getting "busted" for it? It's a good thing they do it; it's not bad business practice at all. And yes, personally, I'd be asking other shops for that level of service too (like I stated in my original post)
I've shopped at JH in the past, and will shop there in the future, they're a good store. They would totally be my LBS if I lived in NV. They've been nothing but good to me. They've been nothing but good to the community (hosting trail days etc).
But I guess for some reason you're labelling me as a hater. Oh well.

How does the price matching work if I get dizzy to write me up a quote on a new demo 9 for 1000 bucks JH will match it?
I would imagine it would only be on advertised prices same as Zellers / Future shop ext. so calling around wouldnt really help in the price matching department would it?

Why not take that approach at the start of the thread? :S
The JH price matching fine print makes sense. Most places are more constrictive.
Small print - every good deal has to have it. This guarantee is applicable to all verifiable, in-stock, non-closeout items, from local authorized dealers. It does not include one-of-a-kind, demo, limited quantity offers, or if a bonus or free item is included with the deal. Sorry, but as you know, every great deal has some fine print.

I think I did. It wasn't until someone said where I worked, that my opinion became invalid to some.
