so yea blah blah blah nothings allowed to be cut or built. yes thats nice, but this is on private property.
so clearing all that up, i trecked through the bush and decided where i want stuff and how i want it to flow. so my question ... what is a appropriate order to build a trail?
1. clear brush, and establish lines
2. support the ground using rocks
3 build stuff
seem like a good order? how should i go about clearing the brush and random crap out of the way?
thanks for the input
steve:)

Sounds reasonable enough, assuming you have the permission of the private land owner.
I use a machete to clear smaller stuff like vaccinium and salal. Brush like Salmon berry is actually better removed by wearing gloves and pulling the entire plant out. Whacking it with a machete only creates more branching next year.
Try to imagine where there's going to be lots of erosion/braking and use rock to create a solid base if the trail is loamy.
gl with the trail.

i always like to start from the end of the trail, that way you know you're not going to rush ahead and leave a problem spot.
pull everything out of there.salal, any sort or shrubbery...just tear it all out.rake the line, removing any rotten cedar(red cedar rot),then fill in problem areas with rocks/golden dirt.
the list goes on,but you should be able to do a search and get it all figured out.
is this you're private property you're building on?

trail worker - yes it is my private land. well ... parents :P
duke - its already been flagged. i did that yesterday:cool:
i think im pointing mysef in the right direction and ive seen good work from bad work, i know what i want to accomplish. theres probably 3 of us that are going to be makin it, well at least me for sure. its pretty short, but i think it could be fun. im going to aim by the end of the summer to have it built all sturdy (im kinda lazy)
thx again.

A short handled pruning saw works awesome for anything up to and including small trees. Machete just hurts your hands and gets dull quickly.

build from the end of the trail to the beginning. i know its been mentioned twice but im just reiterating it because its a very good technique of building.
