first off its lame to assume that it was a rider I noticed a lot of folks hanging out by the jumps......or to assume its a kid(alex).
People gotta stop layin their bikes down and forgetting about them, you see it all the time at races. I know I've been lucky leaving mine allday and forgeting......
these days I go everywhere with a little cable lock, cuz there are so many unlocked bikes to choose from that my $5 cheesy cable lock is enough of a deterent..............
don't mean to lecture, but I hate to see people mourning uneccessary losses.
PLus there were a number of posts on here reminding people to bring locks cuz folks got ripped off last year.
I think some bastard watched for a while and realized how easy it would be to stroll over and roll away with a bike....????

lots of people left ther bikes right at one of the main exits, where anyone could have walked out with a bike, as no one checks for anything

:flame: that makes me mad:mad:
I just dont understand HOW?! There were so many people there around the bikes who must have known him and known his bike and some punk just walks over picks it up and strolls away:???: How could no one see this? Its such a nice bike ill be lookin out for it everywhere i go. Good luck on finding it.. etc.
I brought my bike on friday and got it locked up with a buddies. When it wasnt locked up it was with me.

It's easy, dress like a biker, look calm, act like you're picking up your own bike, and ride away. That's why it's so easy to steal from these events, just like the dh races in the summer, just like whistler, and on. Just because there are tons of bikes around doesn't mean they're all safe, if just means there are more people to blend in with.
And who really knows which bike belongs to which rider. Are you going to question someone else picking up a bike you don't recognize (the bike that is). Probably not. Thieves are ballsy when they take things in plain view, but it's less suspicious than prying at something with a crowbar, or hacksaw in the middle of the night.

There should be some sort of bait bike sting at the show next year. Maybe with some huge guys to kick the shit out of whoever takes the bike.

Yeah we could sell tickets for the enforcers, it could be like a fundraser for a good cause. "Shit kick a bike theif for charity"
Its a win - win - win You get to vent some anger, the theif gets a good leson taught to him/her (not going to decriminate:D), and a worth while charity gets some $$$.

thats brutal. i was watching from the side by the annoucers and there was so many people there that anyone could have walked up and taken it. i seen about 5 bikes just laying there unattended. very easy to walk up and steal one. like someone else said if you act cool and play the part you can walk away with anything. hope you get it back or at least compensated through insurance.
