Roach Rally FR are what I run
Honestly, out of every pad ive tried on, these have got to be the most comfortable. Hands Down.
I think Corey has the DH, I got the RF cause they were cheaper, and cause they were more comfortable (no ribbed lining inside). The DH have calf protection.

roach rally fr, they r very nice, dont slip, and have pretty good knee protection, and i herd they were designed by wade simmons. so they r pretty good. i am very happy with mine

i second that. i've got the same ones. non-slip, perfect fit, decent ventilation, good looking low-profile design, and they're black. great little company. gord (ceo, r&d, sole employee) is constantly refining his designs & personally crash testing his gear to make sure it works. :P

Go with Hoots they got the most padding and you don't have to run the shin if you don't want to.

its by height, I'm a bit over 6 feet and I got the XL. Each size down gets shorter by about 2 cm, and the strap length doesnt change. If I were you Id get larges.

i have the fox 911's... they're decent as far as armor goes, but i do have complaints about them too.
1 - CONSTANTLY sliding down. flat land, big hit, quick dh'ing, urban... doesn't matter. i find myself giving each one a quick tug maybe every 3-4 minutes. could be because i have pinner legs, but i don't think so.
2 - the knees... the problem is with the 'joint' - it doesn't bend correctly. the placement of the knee cup in relation to the shin guard doesn't make sense, with where the knee joint is. just doesn't. feels funny when pedaling.
3 - the top (thigh) strap. the end always rolls over, and then the itchy velcro gets my leg. and its itchy. real itchy. i currently have 2 dabs of crazy glue (r) on each one... gotta keep it from rolling as much...
4 - the ankle strap. again, maybe its because i have pinner legs, but i don't think so. the strap is elastic. and waaay too long. even with no stretch, i can hardly get it from going beyond the patch... granted, some thread, and a needle took care of this problem for me, but, honestly, how many people have ankles so fat they wouldn't be able to get the ELASTIC strap around them. especially those who would wear the 'small/medium' pads. keep in mind, they're made for a group of athletes... c'mon fox...
they did come with a nice bag though... i can't wait 'til its time for a new set, and i can get some roach rally fr's, and then can use my fox bag w/ them (unless they come with a bag, too) :P

Get the DH's... If your gonna get ink, trust me ,you dont want to spend a bunch of cash to get the ink and then jack it like i did... I put $500us worth of ink in my leg and then ended up gashin it a quarter inch deep and an inch and a half long... If you want to show it off, protect it so you can...
Although scars can be fun to show off too:D

Get the Barebacks. More protection than the Roach, and with a similar profile.
My legs have always been hard to fit and these never move.
They're especially good for those with large calves.
Not to mention a true locals company.

they look a bit to time consuming to put on and off..... How much did u get em for?
sAFETY
02-12-2004, 05:39 PM
If you're asking about the Barebacks, you can slide them on with or withour your shoes on. Then is just some velcro like any other pad (except you don' t have to readjust them).
Not sure what they go for, but I know it's comparable to the other armour mentioned above.

If you talking about the Lizardskins being time consuming....it's not like a "sleeve" like the pic shows, so putting them on is a matter of holing it in place while you velcro it on....
trust me, those are THE NICEST shinpads out there. I've ridden Roaches and 661s, used my friends Fox...these are definitly PRIMO and the best shingaurds....
They're also not like "Hey look at me, I have shingaurds on!" and they go under clothing nice if you wear pants....
