I'm thinking of getting either a VP Free or a scream and both these bikes use a 150x12 rear hub. Anybody get a recomendation on a good cheep hub for either of these frames?

..but for such a nice option (the 150x12mm), why not spend a bit more on a hub that will grow old with you.

Hadley makes beauty hubs in that size.

Very True, excellent hubs, but about 3x the price.

The formula will work, the hadley will be better.

you'd think at that price the hub would come with the frame....

Id go with the hadley, just cause you are investing in a high end ride, and hadleys ar 100% rebuildable and are very simple to rebuild.

a sorta reasonable happy medium is the ringle abbah sos. if you want higher quality look to dt swiss or hadley.

I love the Ringle on the back of the Demo 9. Better than the Hadley due to he fact its a couple of c clips and some sealed bearings. Easy to service. Love it.

Yeah, because a website is the key to a good hub.

Thanks for the chuckle Mr.Internet.

Ahh my friend, the Hadley also uses sealed bearings. It is a piece of cake to disassemble.

Both the Ringle and Hadley hubs are on the same playing field.. the :thepimp: league.

Oops, I was thinking of the pressed in needle bearing in the freehub. They tend to seize up.

They do actually come out by hand. They are held in place by a threaded collar.

You are right, they do need to be taken apart, cleaned and lubed about once every 6 months. Do that and it will last you a lifetime. (of course ya gotta change bearings occasionally).

That might be the newer style. The older ones were a press fit bearing. They did change the style due to a few problems. A little tri flow bath usually loosed it up like you said.

PS: I took apart my Ringle to give it a lube and the pawls are HUGE.

I am such a loser!!

From what i've heard a hub is only as good as u the amount of service u give it. Any hub will die if u never maintain it. However u could buy like 3 or 4 formulas for the price of one Hadley lol.
