on the weekend at the johnny waddell race i exploded my back wheel by coming up short on a triple type thingy and now im looking for a new one...
atm im liking the look of sun MTXs as the price and the rim seem good value to me but ive never heard much about them...
price is the main concern but i dont want anything too heavy
anyopinions guys?? mag 30s arnet that much more expensive than MTXs but like 15bucks more but they are extra weight while im not that concerned about it i cant see myself breaking these an mtx but i dunno...
it will be on a hardtail and ive heard 321s flatspot on hardtails. im also looking at 521a but im not sure about them
atom labs and things would be nice but are they worth 45bucks extra (mtxs are 115 / rim and trailpimps are 150 so are aircorps im not sure
opinions and stuff would be most ppreciated

321s get my vote.. i'm not too sure on the price difference but the french can sure make excellent rims. for the weight and the price, it's probably the only rim that i would go for. but that's just my opinion.

doubletracks are $2 cheaper than mag 30s and i thought mag30s were welded doubletracks...
do 321s flatspot easy though (hardtail like im not very smooth andr ace downhill on it)

get either a 321 or fork out the extra 45bucks and get a trail pimp, cant go wrong there.

I know they are specd on the 04 Brodie Devo, heavier than the Single Tracks and lighter than the Double Tracks.
No picture, but they are listed here...

I've heard some shifty things about atom labs such as they're too tall and dent/flat spot easy. I've also heard they've addressed this.
I'd personally go with a mag30 or 321. I'm running a set of 321's on my hardtail but thats also almost complete so I cant give an opinion on those yet. My big hit has the mag30's and if you get them laced up right (same goes for most rims) they wont let you down.
I've broken almost every sun rim i've owned including snapping 3 doublewides on the weld so my <personal> recommendation is to stay away from those ( I am aware that Sun makes the mag30's).
Also, some doubletracks are welded along the seam which basically makes them a black mag30.
And if you own an Industrail hardtail, I wanna see it :)
I've thought about one of those.. very :thepimp:

If you want one burly rim for your HT - run the 521's if you can still find some. I have nuked 2 sets of 321's and I still have a 7 year old pair of 521's. Some racers will paint a set of 521's to look like Dee Max rims when they are running skinnier tires during wet races.

i did but it got stolen the pics will prob still be on pinkbike it got stolen in 02 and i dont know how to make another sig but when i get the coin ill get another or a 243 there actually cheaper over here and the industrails are made just about 2 hours drive away... but anyway
search RideSiK on pinkbike and if there still then it was diff it had 24s and singlespeed when it was stolen
no ones had any experience on MTXs ? they sorta look like a scaled down mag30
