I know that the Banshee Scream are known as bad gear shifting bikes. I am using the teflon cable, XT derailler and LX shifter. I am running the cable on the outside instead of the place Banshee said to put the cable so I don't pinch my cable. Any ideas to make my shifting crisper?

mine shifted beautifully.

get rid of teflon cables. teflon cables have the teflon wear off and turn to sludge.

just use standard housin and cable, keep everything as short as possible and keep things lubed.

Where did you hear that? I've run the same cable and housing for a year and half with the standard clean and lube. Never a miss shift unless I forget to lube the chain.

Maintenance. It's all about maintenance.

if you want a clean crisp feeling when you shift buy a new dereileur cable every couple of months and get really good at adjusting your shifter/dereileur. and don't bang it on shit.

also make sure your chainline is what they say it should be.

when you are installing your cable and new housing, (dump the gore crap) use the regular cable and housing (4mm). and put a thin layer of grease on teh cables where they will be inside the shift housing.

like WBC said make sure everything is nice and short, basically the perfect length.

hopefully we are talking about the rear. For somereason I have it setup as how it is shown in the manual (through the rocker plates) and I have yet to have any problems at that location for crimping it what else.

The only problem I have faced was the housing, is that the little steel wires in it, just pull out, or vise versa. Not a hard fix but cant get annoying.
